01 / Introduction

## About Erin Coffin

The City’s list of certified candidates shows Erin Coffin’s nomination for Ward 23 Kanata South dated May 1, 2026, with the same date for her registration in the City’s Contribution Rebate Program. The City’s published results for the October 24, 2022 election list an Erin Coffin in Ward 23 with 3,611 of the 15,755 votes cast, which is 22.9 percent, in second place behind Allan Hubley (5,334) and 5 votes ahead of Rouba Fattal (3,606). CBC News wrote in 2022 that she was a former policy advisor and volunteer, and that her priorities included recreation facilities, transit, traffic calming and support for small businesses. CBC News and CTV News Ottawa both report in 2026 that she is running in Kanata South for a second time after finishing second in 2022.

CBC News writes that she has spent her career in the federal public service and is president of the Bridlewood Community Association, and the association’s own About page lists her as President on its 2025 to 2026 board. The Canada Gazette of March 21, 2026 carries a notice that the Public Service Commission gave permission to Erin Coffin of Health Canada to seek nomination and be a candidate for Councillor in Ward 23 Kanata South. In the CTV News Ottawa questionnaire she says she has worked nearly 30 years in the federal public service, in areas that include public health, infrastructure, heritage, transportation, public safety and emergency response, and has lived in Kanata South since 1990. voche.me did not check her years of service with the government.

Her campaign pages say she has been a board member and volunteer with the FAMSAC Food Cupboard since 2015, that she led changes there that raised over $750,000, and that in 2024 she founded the Great Bridlewood Food Drive, which she says has collected more than 100,000 pounds of food over three years. These are her own statements, and voche.me did not check the figures.

Her platform page lists five priorities: safe roads with crosswalks where neighbours need them, safe and reliable public transit with dedicated local routes in Kanata South, better use of existing tax dollars, a strong local economy for small businesses, and help for residents to afford the basics, including healthy food. In the CBC News questionnaire she names the renewal of Hazeldean Road between Eagleson Road and Terry Fox Drive as the top infrastructure need, says she would support no more than a 3.75 percent property tax increase in the 2027 budget and calls that a ceiling, and picks a transit levy (an extra charge to pay for transit) to cover OC Transpo deficits. In the CTV News Ottawa questionnaire she says she would not support an across-the-board fare increase without better service, would extend free transit to children 12 and under, and would not support an infrastructure levy unless the City first publishes the projects, costs, timelines and yearly public reports. On police she says she would keep the overall level of funding for now and consider increases when there is a clear need.

Since May 2026 she has written a Substack newsletter called The Ward. In the posts read here she calls for a single corridor plan for Hazeldean Road from Eagleson Road to the Kanata-Stittsville boundary, a public report every three months on OC Transpo cancellations and missed connections, and a public list of what infrastructure and services each growing community will need. These are her own statements. The sources read hold no complaint against her.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 7, 2026: the City’s list of certified candidates for Ward 23 (an Internet Archive copy), its open data file of nominations and its 2022 results, her campaign website (home, Meet Erin, Platform and Events pages and three Substack posts), CBC News of August 25, 2026 and October 24, 2022 with its questionnaire, CTV News Ottawa of September 2026, the Bridlewood Community Association’s About page, and the Canada Gazette notice of March 21, 2026.

Gaps. Her Facebook, Instagram, X and Bluesky accounts showed no readable posts to a visitor who is not logged in. Ten of her thirteen Substack posts were not read. Her statements about the FAMSAC Food Cupboard, the money raised and the pounds of food collected were not checked with the organizations named, and neither were her years in the public service. The City’s 2022 results list an Erin Coffin in Ward 23, and CBC News and CTV News Ottawa say she is the same person who ran in 2022. The Gazette notice names Erin Coffin, Health Canada and Ward 23 Kanata South. The voche.me questionnaire has not been sent.
