01 / Introduction

## About Cole Fraser Jones

The City's list of certified candidates shows Cole Fraser Jones's nomination dated May 26, 2026, and the City's open data file lists his surname as Jones and his given names as Cole Fraser. The City's list shows that he had not registered for the Contribution Rebate Program. CBC News says he was an electronic-optronic technician in the military and now manages infrastructure modernization projects for a federal department. CTV News Ottawa describes him as a Canadian Army veteran and public servant.

His campaign website says he grew up in Bells Corners, served nine years in the Canadian Army as an Electrical-Optical Technician, earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Military Arts and Science from the Royal Military College of Canada while serving, worked as a framing carpenter early in his career, and left the military in 2019. It says he now works as an Assistant Director in the federal government's information technology sector. In the CTV News questionnaire he describes himself as a first-time candidate. The website says he has lived in Ward 9 since 2019. In the CBC News questionnaire he says he has lived in the ward for 8 years and was born and raised in Nepean. These are his own statements, and voche.me has not checked them with the Department of National Defence, the college or his employer.

His positions in the CBC News and CTV News questionnaires are these. He wants a formal program review of all City spending, modeled on the federal Program Review of the 1990s, before any new tax or levy. He would not support a tax increase above the rate of inflation or a new infrastructure levy. He says the police budget should be reviewed and reallocated before any increase, and proposes a reserve police model that would need provincial legislation. He says OC Transpo deficits should be met with service cuts. He wants servicing capacity shown before growth is approved, and gave 2 out of 5 to the statement that intensification will be important for housing in his ward.

CBC News quoted him on September 23, 2026 in its report on the dispute between Councillor Devine and candidate Anna Ielo-Tal. He is not part of that dispute. He told CBC News that his relationship with his opponents is cordial and that slinging mud at other candidates will not achieve anything. The sources voche.me read hold no complaint or allegation about him.

Campaign-source summary

Summarized from the campaign’s published profile. These are stated positions, not an assessment of results or a complete platform.

01

### Safe streets and infrastructure that works

His campaign site says safe streets, parks and recreation buildings and roads that work are the baseline, and that Ward 9 residents have raised speeding and dangerous intersections for years.

02

### Public money held in trust

His campaign site says every City dollar must be justified, that a budget shortfall is a reason to review spending and not an automatic reason to raise taxes, and that he would demand openness on where money goes.

<details>

</summary>

In the CTV News questionnaire he proposes a formal program review of City spending and a 10-year rolling plan for infrastructure so residents can see what will be fixed and when.

### A real answer from the councillor's office

His campaign site says anyone who contacts his office will get a specific response and not a form letter.

04

### Growth follows infrastructure

In the CBC News questionnaire he asks that the City publish what existing sewers, drainage and roads can carry before a major plan or application proceeds, and that growth pay its full servicing costs.

<details>

</summary>

He asks for a City-run public notice system for development that is the same in every ward, with a City planner present at sessions for large projects.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on October 6, 2026: the City's list of certified candidates for Ward 9, his campaign website (read from its script file, because the page shows no text without JavaScript), the CBC News and CTV News Ottawa questionnaires, CBC News of August 25 and September 23, 2026, and Capital Current of September 25, 2026.

Gaps. His campaign website's Facebook link answered only with a redirect notice, so no posts could be read. His military service, degree and federal job rest on his own statements and one news description. His website and his CBC News questionnaire give different lengths of time in the ward (since 2019, and 8 years). A search summary said he had suspended his campaign, and no page voche.me opened says so, so it is not used. The questionnaire has not been sent.
