The last day to request a mail ballot package sent to your home is October 5 at noon, and advance voting opens this Saturday. Miss604.com published a voting guide on October 1 covering the ways Vancouver residents can cast a ballot before and on election day, October 17, 2026.

## Mail voting

To vote by mail, apply online or call 3-1-1 if you are already registered. The package arrives at your home, you mark your ballot, and return it. The completed ballot must reach the Election Office by 8:00pm on October 17.

After October 5, packages can no longer be mailed to you. Voters can still pick one up in person at the Election Office at 305 West 8th Ave until October 13 at noon. Anyone picking up close to that date is advised to return the ballot by drop box, because Canada Post delivery may not arrive in time. The City lists drop box locations on its website.

Miss604.com reported that vote-by-mail requests had already passed 18,000, without naming its source for the figure. In the 2022 election, the City reported 10,523 mail ballots in total.

## Advance voting

There are four advance voting days before October 17:

- Saturday, October 3
- Wednesday, October 7
- Saturday, October 10
- Tuesday, October 13

All advance voting places are open from 8:00am to 8:00pm. Vancouver has 59 voting places in total and you can use any of them on any advance day or on Election Day itself.

## What to bring

Registered voters were mailed a Voter Information Card in mid-September. Bringing that card to the voting place speeds up the process.

Voters who are not yet registered can register at any voting place. They need two pieces of ID that together show their name on both, their address on at least one, and their signature on at least one.

## Who can vote

To vote in Vancouver's municipal election, a person must be:

- 18 years old or older on October 17, 2026
- A Canadian citizen
- A resident of British Columbia for at least six months before registration
- A resident of Vancouver, or an owner of property registered in their name in Vancouver, for at least 30 days before registration

## What is on the ballot

Vancouver voters will choose one mayor, ten city councillors, seven Park Board commissioners, and nine School Board trustees. The ballot also includes three Capital Plan borrowing questions and two plebiscite questions.

In the 2022 election, 171,494 ballots were cast, a turnout of 36.3 percent out of 472,665 registered voters.

If you plan to vote by mail and want your package mailed to you, request it at vancouver.ca or by calling 3-1-1 before October 5 at noon. See the full list of candidates at [/nominations](/nominations).
