Traffic around Victory Square will be blocked off on Wednesday, November 11 for Vancouver's annual Remembrance Day ceremony and parade. Daily Hive reports the closures will be in effect as the parade marches along Cambie Street onto Hastings Street.

The ceremony at Victory Square, located at 200 West Hastings Street, runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. It is the oldest continuing annual Remembrance Day ceremony in Vancouver, Daily Hive says, held at this location every year since 1924.

## What the ceremony includes

According to Daily Hive, the ceremony includes the Last Post, the Lament, a change of the guard, wreath-laying, and a parade of veterans to honour those who served.

The parade assembles at Victory Square and proceeds along Cambie Street onto Hastings Street. Drivers and cyclists should avoid the area around Victory Square and the Cambie and Hastings corridor from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

## What to expect if you are commuting

The road closures are in effect for the ceremony and parade on the morning of November 11. Plan your route in advance if you need to travel through the downtown core, particularly near Cambie and Hastings.

Remembrance Day is a federal statutory holiday in Canada. Government offices and many businesses will be closed. TransLink runs a modified holiday schedule that day, so check transit times before you travel.

## Other closures in Metro Vancouver

Daily Hive also reports Remembrance Day road closures in several other Metro Vancouver municipalities on November 11. These include North Vancouver along Lonsdale Avenue and East Keith Road (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Coquitlam along Winslow Street and Veterans Way, New Westminster on Royal Avenue and Sixth Street (6 a.m. to 1 p.m.), Richmond on No. 3 Road and Granville Avenue (8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.), and West Vancouver along Marine Drive. Each city has its own closure times and affected streets.

If you are driving or taking transit across the region on the morning of November 11, check the route for each city you pass through.

Plan your November 11 route now. The Victory Square ceremony runs 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 200 West Hastings Street, Vancouver.
