The City of Vancouver declared official 2026 municipal election results on October 21, replacing the preliminary count from election night. The final tally changed the order of the last two elected council seats: [Bridget Burns](/candidates/bridget-burns) of the Green Party of Vancouver finished in 9th place, 2 votes ahead of [Mike Klassen](/candidates/mike-klassen) of ABC Vancouver, who dropped to 10th. On election night, Klassen had led Burns by 10 votes. CityHallWatch, which follows city hall decisions, reported the official declaration.

Both Burns and Klassen remain elected. The first candidate not elected, [Joyce Gillespie](/candidates/joyce-gillespie) of ABC Vancouver, finished 2,822 votes behind Klassen.

## Close races in the final count

The council seat order was the most closely watched change between the preliminary and official counts. CityHallWatch reported a chart showing the 9th and 10th positions narrowed to a 2-vote gap in the official tally.

On the school board, [Steve Cardwell](/candidates/steve-cardwell) of OneCity held the last elected seat over [Sherry Breshears](/candidates/sherry-breshears), also of OneCity, by 494 votes in the official count.

## Mayor and total turnout

Pete Fry won the mayor's race with 98,748 votes, according to the official count reported by CityHallWatch. Ken Sim received 67,598 votes. The City recorded 209,711 total ballots cast, 497 more than the preliminary count, for a 43.39% voter turnout rate.

## Plebiscite results in the official count

The official declaration also confirmed both non-binding plebiscite questions passed. On the question about strengthening laws against open-air hard drug use, 137,178 people voted yes and 62,880 voted no. On the question about a secure medical treatment facility at St. Paul's Hospital, 135,509 voted yes and 63,722 voted no. A total of 207,489 plebiscite ballots were cast.

The new city council takes office on November 2. You can see the full results for every candidate in this election at [/results](/results).
