The Vancouver Liberals published a housing commitment on October 14 saying the party would replace individual lease negotiations with one blanket agreement for all housing co-operatives on city-owned land.

The party says 57 co-ops in Vancouver operate on city-owned land and currently each one negotiates its own lease with the City. According to the press release, that process creates uncertainty that makes it hard for co-ops to plan repairs, apply for grants, or secure financing. Those figures and that description come from the party's own release and have not been independently verified.

"When you're unable to get a new site agreement with the City of Vancouver, you're unable to get loans, unable to get grants, and unable to do needed capital renovations," the release quotes mayoral candidate Kareem Allam as saying.

## What the party is promising

The Vancouver Liberals say they would implement a single blanket 25-year lease covering all 57 co-ops on city land, replacing the current site-by-site agreements. The party says the new leases would maintain below-market rates to keep the housing affordable.

The party also says the change would synchronize renewal timelines across co-ops, which it says would reduce administrative work for the City and for co-op managers.

No cost estimate or funding source appears in the October 14 press release.

## The 100-day commitment

The party says it would deliver the blanket lease agreement within the first 100 days of a Vancouver Liberal administration. That is the party's own timeline, and it has not been reviewed or endorsed by any independent body.

No response from other parties or from the City of Vancouver on this specific proposal appears in the source.
