Four COPE, four Green and one OneCity candidate won Vancouver city council seats in the October 17 civic election, according to Daily Hive's report on the City of Vancouver's preliminary count. One ABC councillor, incumbent [Mike Klassen](/candidates/mike-klassen), held the tenth seat.

With 148 of the 149 voting places reporting as of 12:30 a.m. Sunday, COPE's [Sean Orr](/candidates/sean-orr) led all council candidates with 75,305 votes, Daily Hive reported. All other ABC incumbents fell short. The outgoing council had held nine of the ten elected council seats; in the preliminary count it holds one.

## The ten seats

Daily Hive reported the vote totals from the City of Vancouver's preliminary count in this order:

1. [Sean Orr](/candidates/sean-orr), COPE: 75,305 votes
2. [Annette Reilly](/candidates/annette-reilly), Green: 71,794 votes
3. [Chloe Leslie](/candidates/chloe-leslie), COPE: 61,731 votes
4. [Devyani Singh](/candidates/devyani-singh), COPE: 59,371 votes
5. [Stephanie Smith](/candidates/stephanie-smith), Green: 58,461 votes
6. [Camil Dumont](/candidates/camil-dumont), Green: 57,143 votes
7. [Lucy Maloney](/candidates/lucy-maloney), OneCity: 56,593 votes
8. [Solomon Yi-Kieran](/candidates/solomon-yi-kieran), COPE: 54,811 votes
9. [Mike Klassen](/candidates/mike-klassen), ABC: 53,665 votes
10. [Bridget Burns](/candidates/bridget-burns), Green: 53,032 votes

Finishing just outside the ten seats were ABC candidates [Joyce Gillespie](/candidates/joyce-gillespie) (51,273 votes), Peter Meiszner (50,549), Lisa Dominato (50,422) and Sarah Kirby-Yung (50,244), according to Daily Hive.

## Three incumbents re-elected

Daily Hive noted that just three incumbents were re-elected to council: Klassen, Maloney and Orr. Orr and Maloney were first elected in an April 2025 by-election; this was their first general election. Dumont had previously served on the Park Board from 2018 to 2022.

## What comes next

These are preliminary results. The City of Vancouver releases the final certified count on October 21, along with the results of the non-binding public safety plebiscite. The outgoing ABC-led council has one remaining scheduled public meeting on October 27. The new council is inaugurated November 2.
