Vancouver's newly elected Park Board will hold its public meetings at Vancouver City Hall instead of its Stanley Park headquarters. Daily Hive reported on November 3, 2026 that the change applies to both regular and committee meetings and is a pilot project, with no end date named.

The first Park Board meeting at City Hall is scheduled for Monday, November 30, 2026, which is the board's first working meeting this term.

## Why the board made the change

The Park Board said two things drove the decision. The first is better public access: City Hall is served by the Broadway-City Hall SkyTrain station on the Canada Line, as well as major bus routes. The same station will also serve the future Millennium Line extension, expected to open in late 2027. The Park Board's Stanley Park headquarters at 2099 Beach Ave is harder to reach by transit.

The second reason is closer ties with the rest of City government. Mayor Pete Fry and the Green Party made cooperation between the mayor, city councillors and park commissioners a stated priority during the 2026 election campaign. Holding board meetings in the same building as City Council is intended to support that goal.

A practical issue also played a role. At busy Park Board meetings in Stanley Park, members of the public sometimes had to wait outside the building because indoor space ran out. The City Council chambers at City Hall have more room.

## Who leads the new board

The seven commissioners were sworn in on November 2, 2026. [Tom Digby](/candidates/tom-digby) (Green) was elected first chair of the new term. [Sacia Burton](/candidates/sacia-burton) (COPE) was chosen as first vice-chair. The other five commissioners are COPE's [Jamie Han](/candidates/jamie-han), [Tamiko Suzuki](/candidates/tamiko-suzuki) and [T'uy't'tanat Cease Wyss](/candidates/t-uy-t-tanat-cease-wyss), and the Green Party's [Spencer van Vloten](/candidates/spencer-van-vloten) and [Breanne Smart](/candidates/breanne-smart). Both the chair and vice-chair positions typically rotate among commissioners during the term.

## What comes next

The Park Board has not said how long the pilot will last or when it will decide whether to make City Hall a permanent home for its meetings. Daily Hive reported that it is also not yet clear how the move might affect the scheduling of City Council's own meetings, which are more frequent and longer than Park Board meetings.

Members of the public can attend and speak at the November 30 meeting at City Hall, as they could at the Stanley Park location.
