With Vancouver's election day arriving Saturday, October 17, cities across BC are telling voters who already have a mail ballot to deliver it in person rather than dropping it in a Canada Post mailbox. The Vancouver Sun reported this guidance on October 14.

## What to do with your mail ballot

The City of Vancouver's deadline to request a mail ballot has passed. Voters who already received one should deliver it in person to city hall or an advance voting location before 8:00pm on Saturday.

Canada Post told Postmedia on October 14 that all mail items were being processed "without delay or backlog, including the return of mail-in ballots." The guidance to deliver in person is a precaution given the two business days remaining before the deadline.

Completed mail ballots can be returned to:

- Vancouver City Hall
- Any advance voting location

Ballots must be received by 8:00pm on October 17. The City of Vancouver lists drop box addresses on its website at vancouver.ca.

## Record advance voting

Vancouver's advance voting this election set records at every stage. The four advance voting days ran October 3, 7, 10 and 13. More than 103,000 people voted at advance polling locations, well above the total advance vote from the 2022 election. That figure was confirmed by the City and covered by news outlets including Business in Vancouver on October 14.

Voters who have not yet cast a ballot can still vote on election day at any of Vancouver's 59 voting places. They are open from 8:00am to 8:00pm on Saturday, October 17.

## What is on the ballot

Vancouver voters will choose one mayor, ten city councillors, seven Park Board commissioners, and nine School Board trustees on October 17. The ballot also includes three Capital Plan borrowing questions and two advisory plebiscite questions on public safety introduced by Mayor Ken Sim's ABC Vancouver party.

## Voting in person

Voters who do not have a mail ballot can vote in person at any of Vancouver's 59 voting places on Saturday, October 17, from 8:00am to 8:00pm.

Bring your Voter Information Card if you received one. If you are not yet registered, you can register at the voting place by bringing two pieces of ID that together show your name, your address, and your signature.
