Voters who want to vote by mail in Vancouver's October 17 civic election must request a package by phone or online before noon on Monday, October 5, 2026. Daily Hive Vancouver published a full voting guide on October 3, 2026, setting out eligibility rules, identification requirements, and all voting dates and deadlines.

## Mail ballot deadlines

The City of Vancouver is accepting online and phone requests for mail ballot packages until noon on Monday, October 5. After that date, in-person requests at City offices remain open until noon on Tuesday, October 13. Packages can be picked up in person until noon on Friday, October 16.

Completed ballots must be physically received at a City of Vancouver location by 8 p.m. on election day, October 17. A postmark is not accepted; the ballot must arrive in person by that time.

## Who can vote

To vote in Vancouver's 2026 election, Daily Hive Vancouver reports you must be:

- A Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years old on October 17, 2026
- A British Columbia resident for at least six months before registering
- A Vancouver resident (no minimum time within the city applies)

Non-residents who own registered Vancouver property may also qualify. Daily Hive Vancouver reported that a property must be registered in the owner's name for at least 30 days and that only one owner per property can register.

## What to bring

Registered voters should bring the Voter Information Card that was mailed to them in September 2026. Voters registering at the polling place need two documents that together show their name, their address, and their signature. Acceptable documents include a BC driver's licence, a Canadian passport, a bank statement, and utility bills, including electronic versions on a phone. Voters with only one piece of identification can make a solemn declaration confirming their identity and address, according to Daily Hive Vancouver.

## Advance voting dates and locations

Four advance voting days run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 59 locations across Vancouver:

- Saturday, October 3
- Wednesday, October 7
- Saturday, October 10
- Tuesday, October 13

Voters can use any location in the city. On election day, October 17, 85 voting places are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

## What is on the ballot

Voters will elect one mayor, 10 city councillors, seven Park Board commissioners, and nine School Board trustees. The ballot includes three yes-or-no questions about a capital plan involving $790 million in borrowing, and two non-binding advisory questions on drug use policy and a proposed secure medical facility.

## What voters can do now

Voters who want a mail ballot must request one online or by phone before noon on Monday, October 5. The [where-to-vote page](/where-to-vote) lists all advance voting and election day locations. The City of Vancouver's election website has the phone number and online form for mail ballot requests.
