The Lumière Festival returns to Vancouver this November with free outdoor light installations and performances across three neighbourhoods. The festival runs November 12 to 14, from 5 pm to 9:30 pm each evening.

## Five public locations, no ticket needed

The 2026 Lumière Festival takes place at five outdoor spaces:

- **West End**: Jim Deva Plaza (1215 Bute Street) and 1800 Davie Plaza
- **Downtown Vancouver**: Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza and 800 Robson Plaza (Robson Square)
- **Gastown**: Blood Alley Square

No registration or ticket is required. Vancouver Is Awesome described the event as free and family-friendly in its November 4 report.

## What to expect

The festival features light-based projections at a small and large scale, music, storytelling, and artistic performances. This year's edition is curated by Melanie Lazelle, director of The Wilder, a Squamish-based studio that creates light installations and winter festivals. Most participating artists are local, according to Vancouver Is Awesome.

Shelley Hayashi, the festival's spokesperson, told Vancouver Is Awesome: "Lumière brings people together through the transformative power of art and light. While reduced funding and rising costs mean the festival will look a little different this year, our commitment to accessible arts and culture remains strong."

## Getting there

All five locations are within walking distance of downtown transit. For the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza and Robson Square, the nearest SkyTrain stations are Vancouver City Centre on the Canada Line and Granville on the Expo and Millennium lines. Jim Deva Plaza and 1800 Davie Plaza are reachable by bus along Davie Street. Blood Alley Square in Gastown is a short walk from Waterfront Station.

The Lumière Festival runs three evenings: November 12, 13, and 14, all from 5 pm to 9:30 pm. The event is free to attend, with no ticket or sign-up required.
