A fire near Gilmore Station forced TransLink to close three Millennium Line SkyTrain stations on the morning of Wednesday, November 4, Vancouver Is Awesome reported.

Gilmore, Rupert and Brentwood stations were closed just after 6 a.m., according to a TransLink news release cited in the report. TransLink posted on X that heavy smoke was visible at Gilmore Station. The fire was near the station rather than inside it, the company said.

## What TransLink put in place for riders

TransLink added extra bus service to the Millennium Line section affected by the closure. The company asked riders to transfer to bus service at Renfrew Station for eastbound travel, and at Holdom Station for westbound travel. Additional bus service was added at Holdom, Brentwood, Gilmore, Rupert and Renfrew stations.

The Expo Line also had a service gap between Burrard Station and Waterfront Station at the same time. TransLink temporarily suspended service between those stations and later resumed it. The Canada Line was providing regular service when the fire broke out.

## Who is investigating

The Burnaby Fire Department is investigating the fire, Vancouver Is Awesome reported. TransLink said it was looking into the station's infrastructure and would reopen the stations once they had been cleared for safe operation. No timeline for reopening was given in TransLink's news release.

## What riders can do

Riders still commuting on the Millennium Line on the morning of November 4, 2026, can call TransLink Customer Information at 604.953.3333, available in over 300 languages. Riders can also sign up for Transit Alerts on the TransLink website or follow @TransLink on X for real-time updates. The Expo and Canada Lines were providing service and can be used as an alternative, depending on the rider's origin and destination. TransLink's website lists connecting bus routes from each SkyTrain station.
