Vancouver's advance voting set a new two-day record in the 2026 municipal election, with 46,966 ballots cast over the first two days, according to a Vancouver Is Awesome report published October 8. In the same two-day period during the 2022 municipal election, 17,882 people voted, meaning this year's pace is 29,084 ballots ahead.

The City of Vancouver ran 59 advance voting places across the city, including Vancouver city hall. "While turnout was high, wait times stayed low," the City said in a statement quoted by Vancouver Is Awesome. "With more voting places, larger spaces and more technology than ever, voters reported quick and easy visits to the polls."

One voter at Vancouver city hall told Vancouver Is Awesome that it took about 15 minutes to fill out a ballot, with no lineup visible when she arrived.

## Two advance voting days remain

Any registered Vancouver voter who has not yet cast a ballot can still vote in advance on **October 10** and **October 13**. Both dates fall before the October 17 election day. Voters do not need to give a reason to vote in advance, and can attend any of the 59 voting places across the city regardless of where in the city they live.

The high turnout at advance polls follows record first-day numbers reported earlier this week by the City. Vancouver has run more advance voting locations and larger spaces compared with past elections.

## What is on the ballot

The [2026 Vancouver municipal election](/nominations) asks voters to choose a mayor, up to ten city councillors, up to seven park board commissioners and up to nine school board trustees. There are 129 candidates across the four races.

Voters need to show accepted identification and be on the voters list. Voters who are not yet registered can register on the day they visit an advance voting place.
