Vancouver set a new record for single-day advance voter turnout on Wednesday, with 25,142 people casting ballots, according to the City of Vancouver as reported by CTV News. That is the highest figure on record for a single day of advance voting in a Vancouver municipal election.

The record was itself a record: Wednesday's total surpasses the 21,824 people who voted on Saturday Oct. 4, the first day of advance voting this year, which had set a previous record. CTV News reports Wednesday's figure is also more than double the 10,502 people who voted on the second day of advance voting in the 2022 municipal election.

The city said wait times were low despite the volume of voters.

## More locations than 2022

The city is operating 59 advance voting locations this year, up from 22 in the 2022 election, according to CTV News. That is more than double the number of locations. The expanded network of polling places helped keep lines short even as the number of voters grew.

Vote-by-mail requests are also up. More than 18,000 people requested vote-by-mail packages by Oct. 1, compared with 10,523 in 2022, CTV News reports. Voters who have already received a mail ballot should return it before election day Oct. 17.

## Two more advance days remain

There are two more days of advance voting before election day:

- **Oct. 10** from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- **Oct. 13** from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Election day is Oct. 17. Voters will choose one mayor, 10 city councillors, seven park board commissioners, and nine school board trustees, and will answer five questions on the ballot: three capital plan questions and two plebiscite questions.
