The Vancouver Sun reported on September 28 that [Jas Virdi](/candidates/jas-virdi) is the only one of the six original ABC Vancouver park board commissioners elected in 2022 who is running again under the ABC Vancouver banner in October's election.

ABC Vancouver won a majority of seats on the Park Board in the 2022 election, placing six commissioners: Laura Christensen, Brennan Bastyovanszky, [Scott Jensen](/candidates/scott-jensen), Jas Virdi, Angela Haer, and Marie-Claire Howard. The seventh commissioner was [Tom Digby](/candidates/tom-digby) of the Green Party of Vancouver. In 2026, the party's Park Board slate of seven candidates includes Virdi alongside six new names: Cheryl Grant, Chris Qiu (仇云霞), Christian Kyle, Jay Bailey, Marie Rogers, and Stephen Molnar.

The Sun reports that Jensen is now running as a Vancouver Liberals Park Board candidate. The 2026 ballot confirms Jensen is running for Vancouver Liberals in the Park Board race. Tom Digby is running again for the Green Party of Vancouver.

The Sun reports that Haer had initially signed on to run in 2026 but withdrew after police launched a criminal investigation into Vancouver police officer Kal Dosanjh and his charity, the KidsPlay Foundation. Haer was a former board member of the foundation. The Sun reports that Haer denies any wrongdoing. The investigation names Dosanjh as the subject.

The Sun also reports that during the 2022 term, three ABC commissioners, including Jensen, became Independents after disagreeing with Mayor [Ken Sim](/candidates/ken-sim)'s push to have the provincial government allow the Vancouver Charter to be changed so that the park board could be disbanded and its responsibilities handed to city council. The provincial government did not support that change, saying there had not been enough consultation with First Nations.

Virdi told Postmedia, as reported by the Sun, that he is certain ABC Vancouver will not try to disband the board.

Voters choosing Park Board candidates on October 17 can review all nominated candidates and their party affiliations at [/nominations](/nominations).
