This static page changes only when its research is updated. 01 / Introduction ## About Pete Fry Pete Fry is a Vancouver city councillor, first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. He is the Green Party of Vancouver’s 2026 mayoral candidate, with ballot number 51. After COPE’s Stephanie Allen withdrew on September 2, 2026 and OneCity’s William Azaroff withdrew on September 8, both endorsed him, which made him the shared candidate of the three parties. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1969 to parents who were both doctors, and moved to Vancouver as a small child. His mother, Hedy Fry, has been the Member of Parliament for Vancouver Centre since 1993. He has lived in Strathcona, beside the Downtown Eastside, for close to 30 years. Before politics he worked as a self-employed graphic designer and communications consultant. In the 1980s and 1990s he ran a print shop on East Hastings Street under the name Digiboy, designing magazine covers and concert posters. He later moved into corporate design work. A friend’s death after being hit by a car on Prior Street drew him into traffic safety and planning issues, he told Vancity Lookout in March 2026. His community work began on the City’s Dog Strategy Task Force in the mid-2000s. In the early 2010s he served as a community representative on the Downtown Eastside Local Area Plan and chaired the Strathcona Residents’ Association. He ran for Council with the Greens in 2014 and in the 2017 by-election without winning, and ran for the BC Greens in the 2016 Vancouver-Mount Pleasant provincial by-election, placing second. In 2018 he won a Council seat with 61,806 votes, the second-highest total of any council candidate. In 2022 he was re-elected with 37,270 votes, taking the tenth and final seat. He represented Vancouver on the Union of BC Municipalities for three years. The Greens announced his mayoral run on January 30, 2026.
