## About Mike Klassen
Mike Klassen appears on the City of Vancouver's final 2026 candidate list for City Council, with ballot number 103. The City records the affiliation as ABC Vancouver.
The official roster for the current term lists Mike Klassen as a Vancouver city councillor. That is a separate office from the one on this 2026 ballot entry.
The page says Klassen was born and grew up in Vancouver. The page says that before taking office in November 2022 Klassen was Vice President of Public Affairs at BC Care Providers Association and was named Acting CEO early in the pandemic. The page says the candidate was president of the board of PAL Vancouver, a social housing organization for people who work in the arts.
The ABC page says Klassen was born and raised in Vancouver, has organised in the Fraser Street neighbourhood for more than two decades, and was sworn in as a city councillor in November 2022.
The ABC page says Klassen graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and political science. Klassen's own site gives the same university and degree without the subjects.
The ABC page says Klassen was vice-president of public affairs at the BC Care Providers Association and served as acting chief executive during the pandemic. Daily Hive reported in July 2022 that Klassen had held the vice-president role since 2016.
The ABC page says Klassen was board president of Performing Arts Lodge Vancouver from 2012 to 2021, and that the organisation delivered an 8 storey, 66 unit affordable housing building for arts workers.
Daily Hive reported that Klassen ran for council in 2011 with the Non-Partisan Association and received 47,869 votes, finishing 779 votes behind Green councillor Adriane Carr, and that Klassen previously ran the City Caucus blog on civic politics.
Klassen's own site lists current council roles including vice-chair of the Standing Committee on Policy and Strategic Priorities, chair of the Vancouver Business Growth Task Force, chair of the PNE board of directors, and Metro Vancouver director.

Both vancouver.ca and council.vancouver.ca returned HTTP 403 errors, including the text of Klassen's July 15, 2026 motion, so every vote and motion in this record comes from news reporting rather than from the minutes. The 2022 vote count for Klassen could not be confirmed from a source that opened. The two campaign pages give different opening dates for the Performing Arts Lodge housing building, autumn 2023 on the ABC page and April 2024 on Klassen's own site. The outcome of the September 2025 Kent Avenue pathway motion was not found. A February 2024 report about an ABC councillor withdrawing a request for a $3,650 trip to the Juno Awards appeared in search results, but the publication blocked automated access, so it could not be opened, read or attributed and is left out of this record.
