Caditz started a public petition calling on the Vancouver Park Board to stop removing native coastal western hemlock trees and replacing them with Douglas fir, cedar and red alder. The Stanley Park Preservation Society filed a petition asking the court to rule that the Park Board and city council went beyond their authority and to cancel contracts with B.A. Blackwell and Associates Ltd. The society also asked for an order allowing only the removal of trees assessed one by one as an immediate danger to the public.
