The City records the affiliation as Bright Future Vancouver. The party page says Kasiama studied International Studies at Trinity Western University in British Columbia. The page says Kasiama founded Colour the Trails in 2017 to open outdoor activities to Black, Indigenous, racialized and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. The page says Kasiama has served on the Trans Canada Trail board since 2021 and is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Kasiama was born in Kikwit in the Democratic Republic of Congo and left the country as a child when the family fled conflict, living in South Africa, Australia and the United States before Canada. In an interview with the BC Parks blog, Kasiama said the move to Canada as a refugee happened in 2010 and that British Columbia was the place chosen for university. The BC Parks interview says that after graduating Kasiama managed a coffee shop in downtown Vancouver, then pressed outdoor retailers on the lack of diverse people in their marketing and went on to work at MEC for two years. Kasiama founded Colour the Trails in 2017. Broadview Magazine describes it as a Black woman owned business set up to widen access to outdoor recreation for Black, Indigenous and racialized people. By late 2020 Field Mag reported chapters in British Columbia, Alberta and Colorado. By the Broadview profile of January 2026 the organisation had chapters in Edmonton, Montreal and Toronto as well as Vancouver. Broadview reports that Kasiama started Colour the Screens, a programme that puts money into creators of colour and connects models, videographers and writers with outdoor organisations, and that Kasiama runs camping education with Parks Canada. Trans Canada Trail lists Kasiama as a director of its board, joined in 2021, and its page also says Kasiama is a fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. Canadian Geographic ran a series named Colour the Trails in partnership with Kasiama, telling the stories of Canadians whose outdoor lives do not match the usual picture of who skis, hikes and bikes. The Bright Future Vancouver candidates page describes Kasiama as a community builder and entrepreneur. The party registered with Elections BC in January 2026 and is led by mayoral candidate Muhammad Ahmad.
