Royal Canadian Legion West Vancouver Branch 60 is holding two events for Remembrance Day 2026, the North Shore News reported on November 4.

The first is a service at Capilano View Cemetery on Sunday, November 8 at 2 p.m., with the laying of wreaths and a ceremony of remembrance.

Before the service, West Vancouver Secondary students and West Vancouver Legion members will place commemorative crosses on the graves of veterans buried at the cemetery. The crosses mark the veterans' service and sacrifice, according to North Shore News.

## The November 11 parade and ceremony

The annual Remembrance Day parade and ceremony takes place on November 11. The parade starts at 10:45 a.m. from 18th Street and proceeds along Marine Drive to the Memorial Arch, which is across the street from the West Vancouver Memorial Library. The ceremony begins at 10:50 a.m.

The parade and ceremony are open to the public and take place on a public street and at a public monument.

## About the two events

The November 8 cemetery service and the November 11 parade together make up West Vancouver's main public observances of Remembrance Day. The Royal Canadian Legion, West Vancouver Branch 60, organizes both.

Remembrance Day is a federal statutory holiday in Canada and falls on November 11 each year. It marks the end of the First World War at 11 a.m. on November 11, 1918, and honours all Canadians who have served and died in military service. The red poppy is a symbol of remembrance for those who served, and many people donate to legions and charities while wearing one in the days leading up to November 11, the North Shore News reported.

## What residents can do

Residents can attend the November 8 service at Capilano View Cemetery at 2 p.m., or the November 11 parade starting at 18th Street at 10:45 a.m. and the ceremony at the Memorial Arch at 10:50 a.m. No registration is mentioned in the North Shore News report.
