BEFORE YOU COMPARE

## Who actually decides this

The City of Surrey says the mayor is the head and chief executive officer of the City, leads Council and may return a bylaw, resolution or proceeding to Council for reconsideration. Council has nine members and acts as a group at an official meeting.

Read the commitments below against that. Where a party proposes something the city cannot do on its own, the commitment carries a line naming who holds the power. That is not a criticism of the promise. A council can lobby, fund and argue, and saying so plainly is more useful than pretending the limit does not exist.

WHAT THE COMPARISON SHOWS

## Reading this ballot on governance

Not one of the 9 parties on this ballot has published a position on governance that we could find and source. That is worth knowing on its own.
