"twitter:title": "Richmond United on housing | Richmond 2026" --- Richmond United · Richmond 2026 # Seniors housing and more rental, with growth that keeps each neighbourhood's character Hobbs told the Richmond News in March 2026 that the City should focus on seniors housing and more rental, and that the new Official Community Plan fits provincial zoning changes to each neighbourhood. In the paper's questionnaire he said yes to lower developer fees, to the small-scale multi-unit homes and to continuing the temporary modular housing, and that the real answer is permanent housing built by the Province. He said the updated Official Community Plan recognizes the uniqueness of each area after the Province forced zoning changes on single-family areas. In the questionnaire of October 1, 2026, Hobbs wrote that the two temporary modular housing sites and Aster Place house 40 people, that they are meant to be temporary, and that the Province has cut its capital budget and is not building the permanent housing those residents should move to. He said he would judge each site on its merits. Mike Gill's page on the organization's site promises responsible growth and improved housing options. At the council debate of October 8, 2026, Hobbs pointed to Richmond's aging population and long waits for long-term care. 4 PUBLISHED COMMITMENTS ## What they say they will do - ### Focus the City on seniors housing and more rental Hobbs told the Richmond News in March 2026 that the City needs to focus on seniors housing and more rental housing.
