The BC Conservative Party announced Tracy St. Claire as its candidate in the Penticton-Summerland riding on September 29, according to the Penticton Western News. She will run in the October 24 provincial election against a field that already includes Warren Hamm of OneBC.

St. Claire leads the South Okanagan Similkameen Division of Family Practice, an organization that represents doctors when dealing with the provincial government. The Penticton Western News reports she has worked with that organization for over a decade, including nine years as its executive director.

She ran for the same seat in 2024, first as the BC United candidate and later as an unaffiliated candidate after Kevin Falcon shut the party down in a deal with then-Conservative leader John Rustad. The Penticton Western News reports she collected 2,721 votes that year, behind NDP candidate Tina Lee's 11,298 votes and winner Amelia Boultbee's 11,615 votes.

The Conservative Party's profile of St. Claire, as reported by the Penticton Western News, highlights her work on healthcare access in the South Okanagan and her role as incident commander during Summerland's Bald Range Wildfire. She also worked with the BC Treaty Commission and was elected to the Okanagan Skaha School Board, where she served as vice-chair and finance chair.

Born and raised in Penticton, St. Claire completed a master's degree focused on the Penticton Indian Band and worked as a facilitator in treaty negotiations, according to the same report. She still lives in Penticton with her family.

Amelia Boultbee, who won the seat in 2024 as a BC Conservative before joining the BC NDP, announced at the start of the campaign that she would not seek re-election. Nominations close October 3 at 1 p.m. Pacific time, so the full field of candidates in this riding may still grow.
