The Conservative Party of BC announced [Stan Sipos](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/stan-sipos) as its candidate for Oak Bay-Gordon Head on 9 October 2026, according to Oak Bay News. Sipos will compete against [Diana Gibson](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/diana-gibson), the BC NDP incumbent, [Andrew Weaver](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/andrew-weaver) running for Centre BC, and BC Green [Andrew Appleton](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/andrew-appleton).

Oak Bay News reports that Sipos was born in Yugoslavia. His mother died before his second birthday, and he spent three years in an Italian refugee camp with his father before coming to Canada. He worked as a construction laborer at 16 and spent the next decade in the trades before building a 50-year career in business and real estate development.

The Conservative Party's announcement, reported by Oak Bay News, says Sipos is proudest of the Customs House heritage restoration project in Victoria. The party described his approach as ensuring a project earns community support, respects its surroundings, meets residents' needs and makes fiscal sense. These are the party's own words about its candidate.

Oak Bay News also reports that Sipos is an active drag racer who was inducted into the inaugural class of the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame. He lives with his wife and family in Oak Bay.

The four candidates in Oak Bay-Gordon Head are Sipos, Gibson, Weaver and Appleton. Weaver previously served as the BC Green Party leader from 2016 to 2019 and as MLA for this same district. He is now running for Centre BC rather than the BC Greens. The Oak Bay News article does not give a reason for that change. Appleton has served two terms on Oak Bay council, according to Oak Bay News.
