Conservative [Sheldon Clare](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/sheldon-clare) won the [Prince George-North Cariboo](/bc/provincial-2026/races/mla/prince-george-north-cariboo) district in the October 24, 2026 BC provincial election with 11,799 votes and 70.27 per cent of the vote, up from 56.82 per cent in 2024.

The Prince George Citizen reported on October 31 that Clare said his priorities for the new term are road maintenance, health care and a north-south interconnector along Highway 97 through Quesnel.

"I think with a big majority comes a big responsibility," Clare told the Prince George Citizen, as reporter Colin Slark wrote.

## The count

According to Elections BC's initial count, the results in Prince George-North Cariboo are:

- Sheldon Clare, Conservative Party of BC: 11,799 votes, 70.27 per cent
- Denice Bardua, BC NDP: 3,380 votes, 20.13 per cent
- Randy Thompson, BC Greens: 1,577 votes, 9.39 per cent

A total of 16,795 votes were counted in the district in the initial count. Elections BC will complete its final count on November 6, 2026. The initial count does not include vote-by-mail, assisted telephone and absentee ballots; those are tallied in the final count, and results may change.

## Clare's priorities for the district

The north-south interconnector Clare named is a proposed highway link along Highway 97 through Quesnel. Prince George-North Cariboo covers a large area of the BC Interior north of Williams Lake. Road maintenance and health care access are long-standing concerns for communities across the region, where distances between towns are large and winter conditions damage roads.

Clare has held the seat since 2024. His share of the vote rose 13.45 percentage points between the 2024 and 2026 elections, from 56.82 per cent to 70.27 per cent, according to Elections BC.

## What comes next

Elections BC will complete its final count on November 6, 2026. The final count includes vote-by-mail, assisted telephone and absentee ballots, which are not in the initial count totals above. The results may shift after that count.
