Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson has held five private fundraising events in October and has not taken questions from reporters since Monday, while NDP leader David Eby made six public campaign stops south of the Fraser River on Wednesday, CTV News reported.

CTV News reporter Penny Daflos reported on Oct. 21 that Elections BC data shows the Conservative Party of BC hosted five "special event(s) in support of Lorne Doerksen" this month at hotels and restaurants, with ticket prices that CTV News reported at $1,500 each. CTV News confirmed two of those events, at the Wall Centre Hotel and the Paradox Hotel in downtown Vancouver, were invite-only. The Wall Centre event was not listed on the party's website. The Paradox Hotel event was originally ticketed but had become free by the time CTV News reported on it.

A Conservative spokesperson told CTV News by email: "Every party in this province holds fundraisers, including the NDP."

## What Eby said

[David Eby](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/david-eby), speaking at one of six campaign stops he made in Surrey-area ridings on Oct. 21, used the Conservative events to show a difference before the Oct. 24 vote.

"The conservatives are conducting themselves as if they've won the election, but they do not deserve anybody's vote if they're going to be campaigning in backrooms instead of in front of the cameras," Eby told reporters, as quoted by CTV News.

He also said: "Who will put your family's priorities first instead of their donors? Who will talk to the media instead of (at) private fundraisers?"

## Doerkson's press availability

CTV News reported that [Lorne Doerkson](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/lorne-doerkson) has not taken questions from reporters since Monday, Oct. 19. He has been making campaign stops, including visits to constituency offices, and attending private events, but has not held open sessions where reporters could ask him questions in the final days of the campaign.

CTV News did not report a statement from the Conservative Party about when Doerkson would next be available to reporters.
