The Conservative Party of BC published a press release on October 13 announcing what it calls an Anti-Extortion Action Plan, along with a commitment to create a dedicated court stream for repeat and violent offenders if elected.

[Lorne Doerkson](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/lorne-doerkson), the Conservative leader, says the plan would create investigators assigned specifically to extortion cases. The party says it would also establish clear ways for businesses and families to report threats and seek protection. These are commitments from the party's own release; no independent body has reviewed or costed them.

"No business owner should have to choose between paying off criminals and keeping their family safe," the party quoted [Jessy Sahota](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/jessy-sahota), the Conservative candidate for Surrey-Serpentine, as saying in the release. The party says businesses and families face intimidation and violence and that fear is preventing some victims from approaching police.

The party also says it would set up a separate stream within the court system for repeat and violent offenders, with the goal of faster consequences. It says the plan would include stronger enforcement of bail conditions and warrants, and expanded use of electronic monitoring for people released into the community.

The Conservative Party says these measures build on an earlier commitment to hire 1,000 additional police officers, prosecutors and support staff combined. That combined figure is from the party's own press release.

"British Columbians are tired of seeing the same criminals arrested again and again while their communities pay the price," the party quoted Doerkson as saying.

The party's October 13 release and Daily Hive's October 14 report on the announcement do not include a response from the BC NDP or BC Greens to this specific commitment.
