A provincial all-candidates forum for the Kootenay Central district is taking place tonight in Creston, My Creston Now reported on October 19. The forum is at the Creston Room of the Creston District Community Complex, running from 6 PM to 9 PM, with doors opening at 5:45 PM.

Four candidates are on the [Kootenay Central](/bc/provincial-2026/races/mla/kootenay-central) ballot ahead of the October 24 provincial election: [Brittny Anderson](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/brittny-anderson) of the BC NDP, [Gordon Skulnec](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/gordon-skulnec) of the Conservative Party of BC, [Hunter Corrigal](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/hunter-corrigal) of OneBC, and [Nicole Charlwood](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/nicole-charlwood) of the BC Green Party.

## The district

Kootenay Central is a provincial district in the West Kootenay, in the southeast of British Columbia. The Electoral Boundaries Commission's 2023 final report says it takes in communities around Kootenay Lake and Slocan Lake, including Nelson, Kaslo, Creston, Nakusp, New Denver, Silverton and Salmo. Its southern boundary runs along the Canada-U.S. border.

The district was previously named Nelson-Creston and was renamed by the Electoral Boundaries Commission in 2023. In the 2024 provincial election, Brittny Anderson of the BC NDP won the seat with 8,716 votes, 39.63% of the valid vote. Gordon Skulnec of the Conservative Party received 6,967 votes, Nicole Charlwood of the BC Green Party received 4,123 votes, and an Independent candidate received 2,190 votes, according to Elections BC.

## Submitting questions

The My Creston Now report said the forum organizers were accepting question submissions by email through the College of the Rockies until noon on Tuesday. That deadline has now passed, but the forum itself runs this evening.

## What voters can do

Voters in the Kootenay Central district can attend the forum tonight at the Creston District Community Complex starting at 5:45 PM. Voting day is October 24. Advance voting also runs until October 21, so voters can cast a ballot in advance today at [Elections BC's voting place finder](/bc/provincial-2026/news).
