The Conservative Party of BC published a Metro Vancouver platform on October 5 and says a Conservative government would shrink the regional body's board, audit its finances, and limit its role to water and sewage delivery.

The party's website states Metro Vancouver's net debt has reached $2.469 billion, up $448 million in one year, and that spending on consulting and contracted services runs $270.1 million annually. These are the party's own stated figures. The BC NDP has not responded to this platform release.

The party says it would conduct a comprehensive audit of Metro Vancouver's spending, return housing, economic development, air quality, and climate policy functions to individual municipalities, and reduce the board to a smaller, professional structure.

Five Conservative candidates are quoted in the release. Trevor Withers, the party's candidate for [North Vancouver-Lonsdale](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/trevor-withers), is quoted saying the North Shore wastewater treatment plant's cost climbed from $700 million to almost $4 billion. Caroline Elliott, the candidate for [West Vancouver-Capilano](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/caroline-elliott), is quoted saying the project is five times over budget and a decade late.

[Lynne Block](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/lynne-block) (North Vancouver-Seymour), [Ayla Dumais](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/ayla-dumais) (West Vancouver-Sea to Sky), and [Carson Binda](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/carson-binda) (Vancouver-Quilchena) are also quoted. Dumais is quoted on the party's website saying David Eby and the NDP sat back while Metro Vancouver wasted billions on the North Shore project. The BC NDP had not published a response to this claim at the time of writing.

The party also states that Metro Vancouver elected officials received $1.26 million in additional pay plus $3.5 million in expenses, and that staff spent $250,000 on international travel in 2023 and $60,000 for 12 staff to attend a New Orleans conference in 2024. These figures appear on the party's website and have not been independently audited.

Voters in North Vancouver-Lonsdale, West Vancouver-Capilano, North Vancouver-Seymour, West Vancouver-Sea to Sky, and Vancouver-Quilchena can read their Conservative candidates' profiles on this site. The provincial election is October 24, 2026. Advance voting runs October 16 to 21. You can confirm your registration and find your voting place at elections.bc.ca.
