Brent Chapman will not run for OneBC in Surrey South, the party announced on October 5. OneBC posted a statement on X saying the two sides had "mutually decided" Chapman would not compete in the October 24 election.

Daily Hive Vancouver reported the development on October 5.

**What the statement said**

OneBC's post on X described Chapman and his wife, former Conservative Party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, as having run a successful Conservative leadership campaign. The statement then said: "Unfortunately, strong conservative values are not acceptable to the self-appointed leaders of the CPBC, and Brent and KLF were subject to a torrent of threats and abuse from insiders."

The statement concluded that the party was "in full support of his decision to step back at this time." The threats described in the statement are unverified claims made by OneBC. No independent investigation or official complaint process has been named.

**How Chapman came to OneBC**

Chapman had been a member of the Conservative caucus under Findlay, serving as a critic for transit and ICBC. After Findlay resigned as Conservative leader, Chapman crossed the floor to join OneBC, which is led by [Dallas Brodie](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/dallas-brodie). A September 22 post by Chapman on X referenced attacks on his wife from people she had worked alongside.

Chapman has not issued a further public statement about his withdrawal.

**What this means for Surrey South voters**

The nominations deadline was October 3. The Surrey South ballot is now set, and it will not include a OneBC candidate. Voters who intended to support OneBC in Surrey South will need to consider other options on the ballot.
