The BC NDP named first-time candidates for both Kamloops ridings on October 1, 2026, CFJC Today reported. Mike Wisla will run in Kamloops Centre and Kory Clark in Kamloops-North Thompson, both challenging Conservative incumbents on October 24.

Both seats have been held by Conservative-aligned parties since 1996, according to CFJC Today. That is 30 consecutive years without a New Democrat winning in either of the two Kamloops ridings.

## Kamloops Centre

Wisla, whose background is in education and healthcare, will face incumbent Conservative MLA Peter Milobar in Kamloops Centre, CFJC Today reported. In 2024, the BC NDP came within about 2,000 votes of winning that riding, making it the more competitive of the two seats, according to CFJC Today.

## Kamloops-North Thompson

Clark will run in Kamloops-North Thompson. The Conservative candidate won that riding by more than 25 percentage points in 2024, making it a much less competitive race than Kamloops Centre, CFJC Today reported.

"I want to be there to show that other people can do this," Clark told CFJC Today. Both Clark and Wisla named housing and the cost of living as their top priorities. Neither candidate had published a detailed costed platform as of October 1.
