The BC Green Party published its tourism plan on 9 October 2026, promising to raise annual BC Parks funding by 50 per cent and create a new outdoor recreation fund. [Jeremy Valeriote](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/jeremy-valeriote), the BC Green candidate for West Vancouver-Sea-to-Sky, announced the plan at Whistler, on Líl̓wat and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory.

The party says it would increase annual funding for BC Parks and Recreation Sites and Trails BC from $76 million to $114 million. According to the party's release, the goal is to expand year-round access, improve maintenance and visitor services, and better manage growing use. These figures come from the BC Green Party; they have not been checked against a government source.

The plan also proposes a $30-million-a-year Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Fund, running for five years. The party says this money would go to trails, campsites, day-use areas and other public recreation infrastructure, built in partnership with First Nations, communities and local recreation organizations. The $30-million annual figure and the five-year term are the party's own.

A third commitment in the plan is dedicated funding for workforce housing in tourism-dependent communities. The release says the Greens would support local governments and First Nations to secure land, service sites and build housing for year-round and seasonal workers. No dollar amount appears in the release for this item.

The plan also includes a transit commitment: the party says it would bring buses to the Sea-to-Sky corridor within the first year of a BC Greens government. Valeriote said in the release that constituents have been asking for transit to the region for years. The party has not published a cost estimate for this in this release.

[Emily Lowan](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/emily-lowan), the BC Greens leader and candidate for Saanich North and the Islands, spoke to the broader goals. The party's release says BC Greens would keep parks maintained year-round.
