The BC NDP and the Conservative Party of BC are both on track to name candidates in all 93 provincial ridings before the October 3 nominations deadline, Global News reported Thursday morning. Smaller parties remain in single digits with two days left before the deadline.

## Candidate counts as of September 30

Elections BC listed 43 officially registered NDP candidates as of September 30, according to Global News. The Conservative Party of BC had 32 official candidates on the same date. The BC Greens had 7 candidates registered.

Two parties that did not exist during the 2024 election each had one official candidate registered. CentreBC and OneBC both formed after the Conservative Party of BC splintered amid internal disagreements following the 2024 campaign, in which the Conservatives came within a few seats of forming government.

## What changes after October 3

Nominations close on October 3. After that date, no new candidates can be added to the ballot. Elections BC will then publish the complete and final list of candidates for all 93 ridings.

Until the deadline passes, voters may find that their riding does not yet show a full list of candidates. The list at elections.bc.ca is updated as new registrations come in.

The NDP and the Conservatives each have enough registered candidates to contest seats across the province, but neither has yet reached the full 93. Global News reported the figures as of September 30 and described both parties as on track to field a candidate in every riding before the deadline.

## What this means for voters

If you want to know every candidate running in your riding before deciding how to vote, wait until after October 3. Elections BC will finalize the list that day. The candidate list for this election is at [/bc/provincial-2026/candidates](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates) and will be updated after the deadline passes.
