The Conservative Party of BC leads the BC NDP by 5 percentage points, according to a new Angus Reid Institute poll. The survey, conducted October 1 to 3 among 1,013 BC residents, put the Conservatives at 48 per cent and the NDP at 43 per cent. The BC Greens stood at 7 per cent.

The Angus Reid Institute published the results on October 5. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

**What the numbers show**

The 5-point gap sits at the edge of the margin of error, meaning the two parties' actual support levels could overlap. The Angus Reid survey was fielded three weeks before voting day, which is October 24.

Earlier in the campaign, a Liaison Strategies poll from late September showed the Conservatives and NDP within 1 point of each other. An Ipsos poll released October 1 showed Conservative support rising. The Angus Reid poll, based on a larger sample of 1,013 residents, now shows the gap at 5 points in the Conservatives' favour.

**The Conservative and NDP positions**

Conservative leader [Lorne Doerkson](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/lorne-doerkson) has focused the party's campaign on health care and tax policy. The party has pledged to keep emergency rooms open and to remove the provincial sales tax from Canadian-made alcohol.

BC NDP leader [David Eby](/bc/provincial-2026/candidates/david-eby) announced on October 5 that his party would introduce a new top income tax bracket for those earning $1 million or more per year if re-elected. The Conservatives responded the same day, calling the proposal a "doctor tax" that would push physicians out of the province.

**What voters can do now**

Advance voting runs October 16 to 21. Voting day is October 24. You can look up your voting location and check registration at elections.bc.ca.
