## About Zeeshan Wahla

Elections BC lists Zeeshan Wahla as the Conservative Party candidate in Surrey City Centre. The Surrey Now-Leader reports that Amna Shah of the BC NDP, who won the district in 2024, and Raman Sharma of CentreBC are also running. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026.

He ran in Surrey City Centre in the 2024 election. Elections BC's statement of votes shows he received 6,494 votes (45.08 percent). Amna Shah won with 6,726 votes (46.70 percent), a margin of 232 votes. The Surrey Now-Leader reported that the first count put the two candidates fewer than 100 votes apart, which led to an automatic recount.

The party says he is a Professional Engineer and small business owner who runs his own engineering consulting firm, is registered in four provinces, came to British Columbia as an immigrant in 2007 and has lived in Surrey since then. voche.me has not checked his registration with an engineering regulator.

At a rally in White Rock on January 5, 2026 he spoke in favour of treatment centres in place of supportive housing, according to the Surrey Now-Leader. On September 26 he criticized the Premier on X for calling an early election. On September 27 he wrote on X that his party will repeal SOGI, which stands for sexual orientation and gender identity.

On October 7, 2025, Elections BC found that a newspaper advertisement for his 2024 campaign ran without the statement that must name a candidate's financial agent, and ordered him to pay $250. The notice says the investigation found no deliberate attempt to avoid the rule.

voche.me has not contacted the campaign.

### Elections BC penalty for a 2024 newspaper advertisement

Elections BC's Director of Investigations found that he broke section 231 of the Election Act during the 2024 campaign. A print advertisement that read "Elect Zeeshan Wahla Surrey City Centre" ran in the Philippine Showbiz Today newspaper, issue of October 8 to 21, 2024, without the required statement naming his financial agent. The notice says the advertising cost $787.50. It says the investigation found no deliberate attempt to avoid the rule, that his campaign cooperated with some parts of the investigation, and that he had no earlier penalty.

#### Candidate or party response

The notice says he told Elections BC in October 2024 that he had given the newspaper his financial agent's information and that the newspaper left it out. It also says the publisher gave Elections BC the draft it received from him, which had no such statement, and that he gave no reply to the investigator's request for evidence on September 9, 2025 or to the investigator's report.

#### Verified status and limits

Elections BC ordered him to pay $250. The largest penalty the Act allows is $10,000. Elections BC lists the penalty on its public penalties page with the date October 8, 2025. The notice allowed a request for review within 14 days and a court application within 30 days. voche.me found no record of either, and did not find whether the penalty was paid.

No campaign website was found on 2026-09-30. His X profile links to conservativebc.ca/zeewahla, which returns HTTP 404. His X page answered a direct read with five of his posts and their time stamps. His Facebook page showed only its title and follower count, his Instagram account shows no posts, and a LinkedIn profile under his name returned HTTP 999, so nothing from those three is used. The May 2026 Facebook post on property taxes is known only from the Indo-Canadian Voice. The party says he is a Professional Engineer registered in four provinces and runs his own engineering consulting firm. The directory of Engineers and Geoscientists BC returned HTTP 403, so voche.me has not checked his registration with any regulator, and voche.me read no page that names his firm. The party's candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader". The party's team page lists him only as the Surrey City Centre candidate, so voche.me does not repeat that label. Two of his 2026 positions, on the school curriculum and on small business, come only from the Indo-Canadian Voice's description, which matches his 2024 campaign biography and quotes no new words from him. A person should ask the campaign to confirm them. His January 2026 speech in White Rock is known from one news report, and no recording was found. The Elections BC notice gives a longer legal name with Zeeshan in brackets and names him as the 2024 candidate in Surrey City Centre. voche.me did not find whether the $250 penalty was paid or reviewed. The Surrey Now-Leader reported a 236-vote margin after the 2024 recount, and he uses that number. The statement of votes gives 6,726 to 6,494, a margin of 232. On the Elections BC list stamped September 30, 2026 at 10 p.m. he was the only accepted nomination in the district. Nominations close October 3, 2026. His 2024 campaign finance report, all-candidates meetings in the district and endorsements were not reviewed or not found on this date. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-09-30: the Elections BC candidate list, key dates page, 2024 statement of votes, enforcement notice and penalties page; the party's candidate, team and platform pages and its Surrey release; his X page; nine Surrey Now-Leader reports from 2024 to 2026; and reports from the Indo-Canadian Voice, Global News, the Western Standard, VoteMate and BC Ballot.

No campaign website was found. His Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages could not be read without signing in, and his engineering registration could not be checked because the regulator's directory refused the request. An empty section records what voche.me did not find on this date.

2026
