01 / Introduction

## About Trevor Halford

Trevor Halford is the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Surrey-White Rock on Elections BC’s list for the general election of October 24, 2026.

He won Surrey-White Rock in 2020 for the BC Liberal Party with 10,718 votes, 39.51% of the valid vote, and again in 2024 for the Conservative Party with 14,667 votes, 52.31%, according to the Elections BC statements of votes. The Peace Arch News reported in September 2024 that he left BC United to run for the Conservatives.

In December 2025 he became interim leader of the Conservative Party and Leader of the Official Opposition after John Rustad resigned, CBC News reports. Kerry-Lynne Findlay won the party leadership on May 30, 2026 and named Heather Maahs to lead the Opposition on June 30, 2026. Findlay’s shadow cabinet named Halford critic for transit and ICBC.

On September 18, 2026 Findlay removed him from the caucus. After she resigned, interim leader Lorne Doerkson readmitted him on September 21, 2026.

The party’s candidate page says he was born and raised in the district and graduated from Elgin Park Secondary and Trinity Western University. Those are the party’s own statements.

No campaign website of his own was found; his link page on Linktree points to the party page. His X, Facebook and Instagram posts could not be read, because they show a sign-in page. The Conservative platform was not yet published on 2026-09-30, so no party measure is tied to him. The Premier’s Office estimates debates of May 27 and 28, 2026 were read for his questions, not line by line. Votes come from the vote index; most vote transcripts were not opened, so the text of Motion M203 and Bill M235 was not read. His speeches in the 2025 sessions and earlier were not read. His work before 2020, as a political staff member and at a pipeline company, rests on reporting that was not opened, so it is left out. The reason Kerry-Lynne Findlay removed him from caucus is not stated in her statement, and no source opened by voche.me quotes a reason from either side. The party candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader"; reporting shows he held that role until May 30, 2026, so the label is out of date. No all-candidates meeting for Surrey-White Rock was found. Elections BC listed no other candidate in the district on 2026-09-30, and nominations close on October 3. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-09-30: the Elections BC candidate list and the 2020 and 2024 statements of votes, the legislature’s 2026 speech and vote indexes, 34 transcripts from 2026 where he spoke, 23 Conservative caucus releases that quote or name him, his party candidate page, and reporting from CBC News, Global News, the Surrey Now-Leader and the Peace Arch News.

His commitments on this page come from what he said in the legislature and in caucus releases in 2026. He has no campaign website of his own, and the party platform was not yet published. Sections with no entry record that voche.me found nothing on this date.
