01 / Introduction

## About Tamara Davidson

Tamara Davidson is the BC NDP candidate in North Coast-Haida Gwaii on Elections BC’s list for the general election of October 24, 2026. She won the district in 2024 with 4,863 votes, 64.92% of the valid vote, according to the Elections BC statement of votes.

The legislature lists her as “Laanas - Tamara Davidson”, and Hansard prints her name as “Laanas / Tamara Davidson”. Her government biography and her campaign page both say her Haida name is Laanas, and the biography names her as the MLA for North Coast - Haida Gwaii. That page ties the ballot name to the sitting member.

Her government biography says she was appointed Minister of Environment and Parks in November 2024. The Prince Rupert Northern View reported the appointment date as November 18, 2024. In the legislature in 2026 she introduced Bill 15, the Environmental Assessment Amendment Act, 2026, which passed on April 16, 2026, and she answered for her ministry’s budget on April 21, 2026.

Her government biography says she worked in the federal public service for over 25 years and was an elected representative of the Council of the Haida Nation. The Northern View reported that she served on that council for three years and worked as a negotiator for the Haida title recognition law. Her campaign page says she has worked with more than 150 First Nations communities. Those are her own and her campaign’s statements.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-09-30: the Elections BC candidate list and 2024 statement of votes, her government biography, the legislature’s 2026 speech and vote indexes, eleven 2026 transcripts where she spoke, eight government releases that name her, her campaign page, the BC NDP releases and platform pages, and news reports from 2024 to 2026.

The ballot name Tamara Davidson and the sitting member listed as Laanas - Tamara Davidson are the same person: her government biography gives her Haida name as Laanas and names her as the MLA for North Coast - Haida Gwaii. Her commitments on this page come from what she said in the legislature and in government releases in 2026. Her campaign page states no measures of its own. Sections with no entry record that voche.me found nothing on this date.
