01 / Introduction

## About Sunita Dhir

Sunita Dhir is the BC NDP candidate in Vancouver-Langara on Elections BC's list for the general election of October 24, 2026. She won the district in 2024 with 8,506 votes, 48.43% of the valid vote, ahead of Conservative Bryan Breguet with 8,087, according to the Elections BC statement of votes.

The government named her Parliamentary Secretary for International Credentials in the cabinet announced on November 18, 2024. The legislature record lists 2024 as her only election year. In February 2026 the House named her to the Special Committee on Democratic and Electoral Reform.

The government's profile says she worked as a language instructor at SUCCESS, a non-profit that helps newcomers, and holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Education from Panjab University. In the legislature she said she is a first-generation immigrant and the first BC NDP MLA elected in the district since 1973.

In the legislature in 2026 she spoke on the budget, credential recognition, a bill on reckless driving, a bill on safe access to places of worship, clean water and an orientation course for MLAs. Her campaign page says she has lived in South Vancouver and Marpole for three decades; that is the campaign's own statement.

The BC NDP caucus page for her answered HTTP 503 on 2026-09-30 and was not read. Her 2025 speeches and votes were not read; this record uses the 2026 indexes only.
