01 / Introduction

## About Rick Glumac

Rick Glumac is the BC NDP candidate in Port Moody-Burquitlam on the Elections BC candidate list stamped October 1, 2026 11:00:06 PM. He is the only accepted candidate in the district on that copy of the list. He won the district in 2024 with 13,488 votes, 52.06% of the valid vote, according to the Elections BC statement of votes, which marks him as the sitting member.

The legislature record lists his election years as 2017, 2020 and 2024. He represented Port Moody-Coquitlam until 2024. It shows him as Minister of State for Trade from November 18, 2024 to July 17, 2025, and as Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and New Technologies from July 17, 2025, with that role active on 2026-10-02.

A government release of July 18, 2017 names him Parliamentary Secretary for Technology. A government release of July 20, 2023 says he was elected president of the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region, a group of provinces, territories and states, for a one-year term.

His legislature biography says he was a Port Moody city councillor from 2011 to 2017. An archived City of Port Moody council page from March 2016 lists him as a councillor. The same biography says he studied electronics engineering at Simon Fraser University and worked in computer animation and mobile software.

In the legislature in 2026 he defended the budget, spoke for Bill 3 and Bill 5, and answered questions on artificial intelligence. In March 2026 the BC Greens said his investment in a technology fund was a conflict of interest. CBC News reported a letter from the Conflict of Interest Commissioner that says no concerns are likely to arise under the conflict of interest law.

His campaign page says he is a two-term MLA and that he took a leading role in building an urgent and primary care centre in Port Moody. These are statements by his campaign. A government release of November 4, 2022 on that centre quotes him as the local MLA.

### Green Party claim of a conflict over his technology investments

In March 2026 the BC Greens released a video, reported by CBC News on March 20, saying his holding in an artificial intelligence and technology fund was a conflict of interest. On March 30, 2026, Green MLA Jeremy Valeriote asked him in question period to sell the investment. voche.me found no official finding against him on 2026-10-02.

#### Candidate or party response

Glumac said in the legislature that he met the Conflict of Interest Commissioner and has a letter that says there is no conflict. ### Causes of emergency waits at Eagle Ridge Hospital

The Tri-Cities Dispatch reported that Glumac wrote in a community Facebook group that hospital leaders told him long waits came more from a lack of beds than from staffing. A BC Nurses' Union representative told the paper the cause is staffing.

#### Candidate or party response

In the post quoted by the paper, he said the hospital is adding beds for admitted patients and moving some services to another site.

The campaign page lists no events and no measure of its own. It calls him a two-term MLA; the legislature record lists three election years, 2017, 2020 and 2024. His Facebook page returned an unrelated page to a direct read and his X page returned a script page, so nothing from them is used. The 2026 speech index lists five transcripts with his speeches and answers; all five were read at the times the index gives. Introductions and a tribute he gave in the House are left out. Votes are taken from the vote index; the vote transcripts were not opened. voche.me did not check whether Bill 3 or Bill 5 has become law. Figures he gave in debate, such as the tax totals and the number of artificial intelligence companies, are his statements and were not checked against government data. The Conflict of Interest Commissioner's letter was read only as CBC News quotes it. No Port Moody council minutes from 2011 to 2017 were opened; the council role rests on the legislature biography and one archived City page. CivicInfo BC answered HTTP 403. The campaign statement that he took a leading role in the Port Moody urgent care centre was not checked with Fraser Health or the Ministry of Health. voche.me found no 2026 statement by him on housing policy, the cost of living, climate or transportation. No 2026 all-candidates meeting for Port Moody-Burquitlam was found. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-02: the Elections BC candidate list, the 2024 statement of votes, the legislature member data, the 2026 speech and vote indexes, five transcripts of 2026 sittings, 19 government releases, an archived City of Port Moody page, his campaign page, the BC NDP platform page and release list, and reports from CBC News, the Vancouver Sun, Castanet and the Tri-Cities Dispatch.

His commitments on this page come from what he said in the legislature, in government releases and to reporters in 2026. His campaign page states no measure of its own. Sections with no entry record that voche.me found nothing on this date.
