01 / Introduction

## About Pete Davis

Pete Davis is the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Kootenay-Rockies on Elections BC's candidate list, in the copy stamped October 1, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. The other accepted candidates in the district on that copy are Norma Blissett of the BC NDP and AJ Wolfe of OneBC. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3.

He won the district in 2024 with 8,217 votes, 42.71% of the valid vote, according to the Elections BC statement of votes. The sitting member, Tom Shypitka, ran as an independent and received 5,844 votes (30.37%). Sam Atwal of the BC NDP received 4,184 votes and Kerri Wall of the BC Green Party 996. The legislature's member record lists Davis as a Conservative member for Kootenay-Rockies in the 43rd Parliament.

The party page says he is from Revelstoke, grew up in Cranbrook and worked as a business professional with ties to logging, forestry, heavy equipment and mining. In his first speech in the legislature he called himself a former business owner. In a social media post quoted by e-KNOW in September 2026, he said he volunteered for more than 10 years with a federal Conservative riding association and served as its president. These are his own and his party's statements.

In the legislature he asked about radiation therapy at East Kootenay Regional Hospital, the closed emergency room in Elkford, the provincial rural retention incentive for health workers in Cranbrook and Kimberley, power outages in Elkford, delays on mineral claims and the replacement of Amy Woodland Elementary School. He spoke against the 2025 budget, against Bill 25 of 2025, which he said takes zoning decisions away from towns, and for a six-month delay of the 2026 freedom of information bill.

Conservative caucus releases from March 2025 to July 2026 call him the critic, and later the Shadow Minister, for Mining and Critical Minerals. In September 2026, when nine Conservative members left the caucus, he posted that he would stay with the party, according to e-KNOW and The Free Press. The Free Press reported on September 24, 2026 that he is running again.

His campaign website, petedavis.ca, holds his 2024 campaign pages, including the party's 2024 platform posts; voche.me found no 2026 campaign page on it on 2026-10-01. The X account @ElectPeteDavis, linked from the party and caucus pages, answered with a page saying the account was not found. His Instagram and Facebook pages could not be read without signing in, so no post is used. His September 2026 post about staying with the party is used only as quoted by e-KNOW and The Free Press. His work as a business professional and his roles in a federal Conservative riding association come from his party's page and his own words; voche.me has not checked them with an employer or with that association. His title as critic or Shadow Minister for Mining and Critical Minerals comes from caucus releases; the legislature's member record lists no role for him. The 2026 speech index lists him on three sitting days. Some passages in the legislature record about his private life are left out under voche.me's privacy rule. Votes come from the 2026 vote index; voche.me opened the transcripts for May 6 and May 28, 2026 only. His 2025 estimates questions on energy and mining, and his speeches on Bills 5, 14, 20 and 31 of 2025, were read only through the 2025 index. The party platform page lists plan titles and does not name him. No all-candidates meeting in Kootenay-Rockies was found on this date. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed.
