01 / Introduction

## About Pat McCutcheon

Elections BC lists Pat McCutcheon as the BC Green Party candidate in Surrey-Cloverdale. On the copy of the list stamped 10:00 p.m. Pacific time on October 1, 2026, the only other accepted candidate in the district is Stephen Dooley of the BC NDP. The Cloverdale Reporter wrote on September 29, 2026 that the Conservative Party had named Nicholas Cartmell as its candidate in the district. That name was not on the copy of the list voche.me read. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026.

Elections BC's 2024 statement of votes gives a Pat McCutcheon of the BC Green Party 1,150 votes (5.41 percent) in Surrey-Cloverdale. Elenore Sturko of the Conservative Party won the district with 10,268 votes (48.31 percent). Mike Starchuk of the BC NDP had 9,682 votes (45.56 percent), and Judy Meilleur of the Freedom Party of BC had 153 votes (0.72 percent). The BC Green Party named Pat McCutcheon as its Surrey-Cloverdale candidate for that election in a release dated April 17, 2024. The name, the party and the district match the 2026 candidacy. voche.me found no 2026 page from the party or a campaign that says the 2026 candidate is the same person.

Elections Canada's results for the federal by-election of December 16, 2024 in Cloverdale-Langley City list Patrick McCutcheon of the Green Party with 580 votes (3.9 percent). Tamara Jansen of the Conservative Party won with 9,936 votes (66.2 percent). The Cloverdale Reporter wrote on November 18, 2024 that Pat McCutcheon would run for the Green Party of Canada in that by-election. In a candidate questionnaire printed by the Aldergrove Star, the federal Green candidate gave the same one-sentence biography that the 2024 provincial Green candidate in Surrey-Cloverdale gave the Cloverdale Reporter.

In those 2024 questionnaire answers, the candidate described a career as a professional engineer, now retired, who ran a consulting business for 25 years that gave design services to heavy equipment manufacturers, and gave 23 years as the time lived in Cloverdale. The party's 2024 release called the candidate a retired small business owner. These are the candidate's and the party's own accounts. voche.me has not checked them with any other body, and does not know the candidate's work in 2026.

The BC Green Party's 2026 candidates page did not list Pat McCutcheon on 2026-10-01, and the address of a candidate page in that name returned a page-not-found error. voche.me has not contacted the campaign.
