On the copy of the list stamped October 1, 2026 11:00:06 PM, the other accepted candidates in the district are Megan Knight of the Conservative Party and Bill McConnell of the BC Green Party. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026. In 2024, Conservative Brent Chapman won Surrey South with 13,056 votes (58.83 percent), according to Elections BC's statement of votes. The BC NDP candidate that year, Haroon Ghaffar, received 9,136 votes (41.17 percent). They were the only two candidates in the district. voche.me searched the whole 2024 statement of votes for the surname Tahlan and found no match. Peace Arch News reported on September 28, 2026 that Chapman has left the Conservatives and will run for OneBC, and that CentreBC leader Elenore Sturko is also running in Surrey South. Neither name was on the copy of the Elections BC list that voche.me read. On 2026-10-02 the BC NDP's online list of 2026 candidates held 52 names, and none was for Surrey South. The party's Surrey South page does not name a candidate. voche.me found no page that gives his background, job or reasons for running, and has not contacted the campaign. No campaign website, social media account tied to this candidacy, news report, interview or public statement from this candidate was found on 2026-10-02, so his background, his positions on every scored issue and his reasons for running are unknown.
