01 / Introduction

## About Melissa Snazell

Elections BC lists Melissa Snazell as the BC Green Party candidate in Langley-Abbotsford. On the copy of the list stamped October 3, 2026 01:00:06 PM, two candidates are shown for the district: Harman Bhangu of the Conservative Party and Melissa Snazell of the BC Green Party. Nominations closed at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026, so a later copy of the list may show more names.

In 2024 Harman Bhangu won Langley-Abbotsford for the Conservative Party with 14,341 votes (55.65 percent), according to Elections BC's statement of votes. John Aldag of the BC NDP received 8,691 (33.73 percent), Melissa Snazell of the BC Green Party 1,434 (5.56 percent), Karen Long (Independent) 1,104 (4.28 percent) and Alex Joehl (Libertarian) 200 (0.78 percent).

Her earlier campaigns were these two. In October 2024 she answered the Fraser Valley Current's candidate questionnaire as the BC Green candidate in Langley-Abbotsford. In April 2025 she was the Green Party of Canada candidate in Abbotsford-South Langley. Elections Canada's official results show 577 votes, which it prints as 1 percent, and she was not elected. The Fraser Valley Current's 2025 candidate profile says she ran for the Greens in Langley-Abbotsford in the last provincial election.

The BC Green Party's Provincial Council page, dated as of November 21, 2025, lists Melissa Snazell as Regional Councillor, Fraser Valley-Surrey. The page says councillors are elected at each annual general meeting on a rotating schedule and that all council members except a leader who is not an MLA are volunteers. A Facebook page in her name for the 2026 campaign describes her as a member of the Provincial Council for Surrey-Fraser Valley, which is the campaign's own description. voche.me found no party page that confirms the seat after November 21, 2025.

On Elections Canada's 2025 results she gave her occupation as registered pharmacy technician. The Fraser Valley Current's 2024 questionnaire printed her own words that she works as a pharmacy technician and is completing a university degree with a focus on policy, sustainability and climate issues. In 2025 Fraser Valley Today wrote that she has lived in the Fraser Valley for 25 years and in Aldergrove for the past 12, and that she is working toward a bachelor's degree in policy and geography. These are her own statements and the outlets' summaries of them, and voche.me did not check them with an employer or a school.

Her campaign website, melissasnazell.com, shows her as the Langley-Abbotsford candidate on its Team page and lists one all-candidates meeting for the riding. The site gives no platform or statement of commitments for 2026.

Oct 11Statement

### Answers to the Fraser Valley Current candidate questionnaire, 2024 provincial election

As the BC Green candidate in Langley-Abbotsford she wrote that she wants Green representation in the legislature to hold the government accountable. She named the Agricultural Land Reserve (the protected farmland zone), trucks parked on agricultural land and the water supply in the Gloucester estates area as local issues, and wrote that she was still researching solutions. She wrote that the BC NDP and the Conservatives both want to improve food security, and that BC should be more self-sufficient in feeding its people.

Apr 24Interview

### Interview as the Green Party of Canada candidate in Abbotsford-South Langley

In a virtual interview with the Fraser Valley Current she said Sumas Prairie needs protection and that governments should act on reports that its dikes would fail in a large flood. She said she supports a boycott of American products. On housing she said the Green Party wants to stop corporations from buying single-family homes to rent them out, and described a permit rule that would require a buyer to redevelop a property within a set time. This was a federal campaign, and the statements are about federal Green Party policy.

</details>

voche.me found no BC Green Party candidate page for her on 2026-10-03. The party's candidates page listed 33 candidates and did not include her, the address bcgreens.ca/candidates-2026/melissa-snazell/ returned HTTP 404, and a search of the party website for Snazell returned the Provincial Council page and an event post that does not name her. Her campaign website has a home page with a headline and no platform text, a Team page, an Events page, a donation page and a blog. A blog post dated September 26, 2026 says British Columbia is not scheduled to hold a provincial election in 2026. Its feed credits a username that is not her name, and it sets out no commitments of hers, so voche.me did not use it. Her other blog posts are general writing on sustainability and are not used. The Facebook page for her campaign needs a sign-in, so only its public header was read, and no post. An Instagram account named melissasnazell exists, and no page voche.me read ties it to her, so it is not used. The address x.com/MelissaSnazell returned a page with no readable content, and no Bluesky profile exists under the handle melissasnazell.bsky.social. Other handles were not tried. Her Provincial Council seat comes from a party page dated as of November 21, 2025. voche.me did not find a page that gives the date she took the seat or confirms it for 2026, and Provincial Council minutes were not searched. Her 2024 questionnaire printed her choices on four multiple-choice questions as lists of names under each option, and voche.me could not tell from the saved text which option sat above her name, so it uses only her written answers. The Fraser Valley Current's 2025 profile gives her 2024 vote share as 6 percent, and the official figure is 5.56 percent. The WebSearch tool had reached its limit in this session, so the name search used Google News feeds and the sites of the Fraser Valley Current, Fraser Valley Today, the Langley Advance Times, the Abbotsford News and the Aldergrove Star instead. No 2026 report that quotes her was found. The Aldergrove Star report of September 29, 2026 on the riding does not name her. The financial agent columns of the Elections BC list were not copied. Her job, studies and years in Aldergrove come from her own statements and from outlets that repeated them. The campaign's only listed meeting, on October 5, 2026, has no organizer page that voche.me could read. Other all-candidates meetings, campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date. The questionnaire has not been sent.

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-03: the Elections BC candidate list, key dates page and statement of votes for 2024; Elections Canada's official results for the 2025 federal election; her campaign website, including its Team page, Events page, blog and donation page; the BC Green Party's candidates page, plan page, Provincial Council page and site search; the public header of a Facebook page in her name; and reporting from the Fraser Valley Current, Fraser Valley Today and the Langley Advance Times.

voche.me found no BC Green Party candidate page for her and no statement of 2026 commitments in her own words. Her commitments on this page from 2024 and 2025 are labelled with their dates, and the 2026 commitments are the party's platform. The Facebook posts need a sign-in and were not read. An empty section records what voche.me did not find on this date.
