01 / Introduction

## About Macklin McCall

Elections BC lists Macklin McCall as the Conservative Party candidate in West Kelowna-Peachland for the general election of October 24, 2026. He won the district in 2024 with 13,475 votes, 50.85% of the valid vote, according to the Elections BC statement of votes. Independent Stephen Johnston had 21.25% and the BC NDP candidate 27.90%.

The legislature record lists him as a Conservative member elected in 2024. In the Public Safety estimates debate on May 7, 2026 he said he served 19 years with the RCMP in the Penticton, Kelowna, West Kelowna and Lake Country detachments, including bike patrol, a crime reduction unit, a police and mental health nurse team, and the tactical team. The party page says he grew up on a farm in Okanagan Falls and studied criminology, psychology and sociology at Okanagan University College in Penticton. These are his own and his party’s statements.

KamloopsBCNow reported in October 2025 that he had been named the caucus critic for Public Safety and Solicitor General. Caucus releases list him in that role until June 2026, when party leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay named him Official Opposition Whip. A caucus list of September 9, 2026 still gives him that role.

In the legislature in 2026 he asked about the number of provincial RCMP officers, World Cup security costs, long-term care and water at Lake Okanagan Resort. He moved two amendments to the civil forfeiture bill, both defeated. The vote index records him voting against the budget, the Supply Act and the freedom of information bill.

No campaign website of his own was found; the party candidate page holds a biography and no commitments, and it labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader", which no other source supports. His X, Instagram and Facebook pages show a sign-in page or a profile line with no readable posts, so nothing from them is used. The Public Safety estimates debates (May 7 and May 19, 2026) and the committee debates on Bills 8, 9 and 16 were read for his questions only, not line by line. Votes are taken from the vote index; the transcripts of most votes were not opened. His 19 years with the RCMP, his studies at Okanagan University College and his upbringing in Okanagan Falls come from his own words in the legislature and on the party page; voche.me did not check them with the RCMP or the college. His caucus roles (public safety critic, then Official Opposition Whip from June 2026) come from caucus releases and reporting; the legislature data lists no role for him. A Castanet story and a KelownaNow story on Lake Okanagan Resort answered HTTP 403, and a party release on extortion answered HTTP 404 on the party site; the caucus copy was used. No 2026 all-candidates meeting for West Kelowna-Peachland was found. The Westside Road meeting of March 18, 2026 was announced, but no source confirms it took place. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-09-30: the Elections BC candidate list and 2024 statement of votes, the legislature’s 2026 speech and vote indexes, 19 transcripts of 2026 sittings where he spoke, the party’s candidate, team and platform pages, 15 caucus releases from 2026 that name him, and reporting from CBC News, KamloopsBCNow, West K News, iNFOnews, PentictonNow, Vernon Matters and the Western Standard.

His commitments on this page come from what he said in the legislature and in caucus releases. No campaign website of his own was found, and his social media posts could not be read. Sections with no entry record that voche.me found nothing on this date.
