## About Lynne Block

Lynne Block is the Conservative Party of BC candidate in North Vancouver-Seymour on Elections BC's candidate list dated October 3, 2026, which was stamped after nominations closed at 1 p.m. (PT) that day. The list shows Susie Chant of the BC NDP and Ben Holt of the BC Green Party in the district with her. Chant won North Vancouver-Seymour in 2024 with 16,210 votes (52.77%), ahead of the Conservative candidate Sam Chandola with 10,995 (35.79%), according to the Elections BC statement of votes.

She is also the sitting MLA for another district. The statement of votes shows that she won West Vancouver-Capilano in 2024 for the Conservative Party with 12,049 votes (46.67%), ahead of Sara Eftekhar of the BC NDP with 7,006 and Karin Kirkpatrick, an Independent, with 5,326. The legislature's member page calls her the MLA for West Vancouver-Capilano, first elected in 2024. The North Shore News reported on September 25, 2026 that the party announced she would run in North Vancouver-Seymour, which freed the West Vancouver-Capilano nomination for Caroline Elliott. The Vancouver Sun's Vaughn Palmer wrote on September 28 that Elliott called Block's willingness to switch a crucial consideration in her own decision to run.

The legislature's member page says she is the Official Opposition Critic for Education, Arts, Culture and Film. A critic is the opposition member who speaks for the party on one ministry. Caucus announcements of October 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026 list her as critic for education. The page says she holds a BA and a Master of Education Administration from UBC, taught and trained at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels, co-founded a business and education consulting company and was serving her second term as an elected school trustee in the West Vancouver School District before the 2024 election. The North Shore News reported in November 2024 that she had been a West Vancouver Schools trustee for six years, and in January 2025 that she resigned from the board a month after the October 19, 2024 election. In a 2022 candidate questionnaire she said she first put her name forward for the board in 2018.

The party's candidate page adds that she immigrated to Canada from England as a child, received the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence, founded the Youth Engaged in Social Responsibility Forums, served on the North Shore Youth Justice and Family Court Committee and was British Columbia's United Nations Representative for Women Educators International. Those are the party's statements, and voche.me has not checked them with the awarding or listed bodies.

In the 2026 sittings the legislature's speech index lists her speeches on Budget 2026, the education estimates, Bills 9, 11, 12, 14 and 20, and her questions on the autism funding model, transit police, Bowser Island and the Victoria school trustees court case. The vote index records her voting yes on first reading of four bills introduced by Tara Armstrong (three) and Trevor Halford (one), and no on third reading of the Supply Act, the K’ómoks Treaty Act and the freedom of information bill.

### High standards in schools

### Six-month delay of the freedom of information bill

In debate on May 6, 2026, Block spoke for an amendment that would put second reading of Bill 9, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Amendment Act, 2026, off for six months. She said the government was correcting its own bill in real time and that the delay would give time to define terms such as abusive and unreasonable requests. The amendment failed 42 to 48 in the division held between 3:05 a.m. and 3:10 a.m. (PT) on May 7, with Block voting yes. She voted no at second reading and at third reading on May 28, 2026.

### Changes to the K’ómoks Treaty Act

In debate on April 23, 2026, Block said reconciliation and treaties matter and listed ten flaws in Bill 20, the K’ómoks Treaty Act. They include cabinet powers to make regulations, treaty rules that override provincial law, removal of agricultural land reserve protection, and overlapping approvals that she said delay permits. She voted yes on an amendment to send the bill to a committee, which failed 44 to 48 on May 20. She voted no at second reading (passed 48 to 42) and at third reading (passed 53 to 39 on May 28).

  Bowen Island Undercurrent · October 6, 2022

</details>

Her X, Facebook and Instagram accounts are linked from the party's candidate page. X answered HTTP 404 to a direct read and a second attempt through another tool received HTTP 402, and Facebook and Instagram returned no readable text, so nothing from them is used. Her MLA website, lynneblock.ca, shows a notice that the legislature is dissolved and that the site will not be updated until after October 24, 2026; its About and News pages load their text through a script and showed none. The party's candidate page lists no events, and its news box says "No data was found". The party's platform page says the platform is coming soon and does not name her, and no party release on the news page of 2026-10-03 names her. The statement that Lynne Block of the legislature and Lynne Block on the Elections BC list are one person rests on the exact name, the party's candidate page (which says she was elected a Conservative MLA in 2024 and was a West Vancouver School District trustee) and the North Shore News, CHEK News and Vancouver Sun reports of September 25 to 28, 2026. The North Shore News article spells her first name Lynn once in its text and Lynne elsewhere. Her trustee terms come from the legislature's member page, the party's page, her 2022 questionnaire answers and the North Shore News. voche.me did not open West Vancouver School District minutes or an official election result for 2018 or 2022. The Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence, the Youth Engaged in Social Responsibility Forums, her committee and volunteer roles and her degrees come from the party's page, the legislature's member page and her 2022 answers, and were not checked with the awarding or listed bodies. The Bowen Island Undercurrent page answered HTTP 403 and was read from an Internet Archive copy. The North Shore Daily Post profile of October 1, 2024 quotes her campaign statements of that year. Her 2026 speeches and votes come from the 2026 speech and vote indexes and 31 transcripts of 2026. Her 2025 speeches, the 2026 recorded votes on Bills 3, 6, 7 and M217, and her members' statements were not opened. A point of order of May 28, 2025 about a question she asked another member was read; the Speaker called it a disagreement between two members and did not rule, and the other member's own statement was not opened, so nothing from it is used. The legislature's member record lists no role entries for her, so her role as Official Opposition critic for education, arts, culture and film comes from the member page's text and from caucus announcements of October 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026. No all-candidates meeting for North Vancouver-Seymour was found on 2026-10-03. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Research status

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-03: the Elections BC candidate list dated October 3, 2026 and the 2024 statement of votes, the Elections BC key dates page, the legislature's member record, its 2026 speech and vote indexes and 31 transcripts of 2026, the party's candidate, team, platform and news pages, the party release of September 27, 2026 on taxes, two caucus announcements of critics, her MLA website, news reports from 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026, and a 2022 candidate questionnaire.

Her X, Facebook and Instagram accounts could not be read, and her MLA website shows only a notice that the legislature is dissolved. Her commitments on this page come from what she said in the legislature in 2026. Three entries are the party's platform and leader's release. The accountability section is empty because no allegation, ruling or finding about her was found on 2026-10-03. An empty section records what voche.me did not find on this date.
