01 / Introduction

## About Lawrence Mok

Lawrence Mok is the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Maple Ridge East on Elections BC's list for the general election of October 24, 2026. He won the district in 2024 with 12,058 votes, 47.02% of the valid vote, according to the Elections BC statement of votes. BC NDP member Bob D'Eith, the sitting member at that time, received 11,961 votes.

In a speech to the legislature on May 4, 2026, Mok said he came from Singapore to Canada in 1976 to study engineering, moved to Canada in 1988 and settled in Maple Ridge, and worked in the overhead bridge crane industry for more than 30 years until he was elected. The party's candidate page lists nine degrees and several professional memberships. Those are the party's own statements; voche.me did not check them with the schools or the professional bodies.

A Conservative caucus release of June 30, 2026 named him critic for trade and skills training, and a release of September 9, 2026 lists him as Shadow Minister for Trade and Skills Training. The Maple Ridge News reported on July 1, 2026 that he was also named one of three stakeholder relations lieutenants. The legislature record saved for this election lists no official roles for him.

In the legislature in 2026 he asked about maternity ward closures at Ridge Meadows Hospital and the cost of flying people to court in remote areas, questioned the post-secondary minister in the debate on that ministry budget, and spoke at length against Bill 7 and Bill 9. In July 2026 a caucus release quoted him against the provincial ban on American alcohol; in September 2026 the BC NDP criticized that statement, and the Conservative Party said for him that he supports keeping the ban until there is a fair trade deal.

On 2026-09-30 the party's candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader". The Maple Ridge News quoted him on September 22, 2026 speaking of a Conservative government led by Lorne Doerkson, and no other source read by voche.me gives Mok that title.

No campaign website of his own was found; the party candidate page holds a biography written by the party, no measures, and an empty news list, and it labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader", a title no other source read by voche.me gives him. The party's nine-degree list and professional memberships were not checked with the schools or the bodies named. His X account showed a profile and a sign-in page with no readable posts, and his Facebook page requires sign-in, so the social media post the Maple Ridge News quoted on August 28, 2026 and the Facebook post The Indo-Canadian Voice described were not read. A Maple Ridge News article on the provincial deficit that search linked to him did not open; the address returned a list page. His introductions, prayers and Bill 7 committee questions were read only in part. Several votes are taken from the vote index only, without opening the transcript of the vote. The 2025 speech and vote indexes were not read. No 2026 all-candidates meeting for Maple Ridge East was found; the Maple Ridge meetings found were for the municipal election. The legislature record saved for this election lists no roles for him, so his critic role comes from caucus releases and reporting. Campaign finances and endorsements were not reviewed. The questionnaire has not been sent.

Evidence reviewed on 2026-09-30: the Elections BC candidate list and 2024 statement of votes, the legislature's 2026 speech and vote indexes, 17 transcripts from 2026, his party candidate page and the party platform page, four Conservative caucus releases, and five news reports from July to September 2026.

His commitments on this page come from what he said in the legislature, in caucus releases and in reporting that quotes him. No campaign website of his own was found. Sections with no entry record that voche.me found nothing on this date.
