01 / Introduction

## About Kris McNichol

Elections BC lists Kris McNichol as the Conservative Party of BC candidate in Ladysmith-Oceanside. The party's candidate page and its team page name him for the district. The Western Standard reports that the party's account named him as the candidate on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The sitting MLA, Stephanie Higginson of the BC NDP, is also on the Elections BC list for the district.

In 2025 he ran federally. Nanaimo News Now reported in October 2024 that party members chose him as the Conservative candidate for Courtenay-Alberni over Joshua Dahling and former Parksville mayor Ed Mayne. Elections Canada's official results for the April 28, 2025 election give him 28,028 votes (35.1 percent), second to Gord Johns of the NDP with 31,617 votes (39.6 percent). Black Press Media reported it was his first time running for office.

He was not a candidate in the 2024 provincial election. In Ladysmith-Oceanside that year, Stephanie Higginson won with 14,144 votes (41.49 percent), and the Conservative candidate, Brett Fee, had 12,097 (35.48 percent).

The party says he has lived in the Parksville and Nanoose Bay area for more than 30 years and has run CPI Equipment, a Nanoose Bay business selling pumps, piping and water systems, for 25 years. The party also says he coaches a girls softball team, is president of the Oceanside Minor Softball Association, led the Sproat Lake Water Sports Association and is a volunteer firefighter. In 2025 the Times Colonist reported him saying he started his first company in aquaculture at 27 and has interests in four Parksville businesses and the Sproat Lake Marina. voche.me has not checked these roles with the business registry or the groups named.

voche.me has not contacted the campaign. No statement in his own words from the 2026 campaign was found on 2026-09-30.

No campaign website was found. krismcnichol.ca, the site named in 2025 reporting, now redirects to the party's candidate page. His Facebook page and Instagram account describe him as the Conservative candidate for Ladysmith-Oceanside, but their posts cannot be read without signing in, so nothing from them is used. No 2026 statement in his own words was found in reporting on 2026-09-30, and the party's candidate page holds no news release naming him. The party's candidate page labels him "Interim Conservative Party Leader", a label the party also shows on Caroline Elliott's candidate page; the party's team page names Lorne Doerkson as leader, so voche.me does not repeat that label. His business (CPI Equipment) and his roles with the Oceanside Minor Softball Association, the Sproat Lake Water Sports Association and a fire department are stated by the party and by 2025 reporting; voche.me has not checked them with the BC business registry or those groups. A 2025 release from the Courtenay-Alberni Conservative Association about a public safety town hall in Nanoose Bay returned HTTP 404. No all-candidates meeting for the district was found for 2026. His platform, campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date. The Times Colonist lists Kim Lockhart of CentreBC in the district; she was not on the Elections BC list read on 2026-09-30.
