# Korky Neufeld

MLA for Abbotsford West since 2024 and a former Abbotsford school trustee, running again for the Conservative Party of BC.

Korky Neufeld won Abbotsford West for the Conservative Party in 2024 with 11,483 of 19,678 valid votes (58.35%). The legislature lists him as an active member for the Conservative Party of British Columbia. He was also an Abbotsford school trustee until the City of Abbotsford recorded him as deemed to have resigned that office when a provincial law took effect on May 29, 2025. A Conservative caucus release of June 30, 2026 named him critic for post-secondary education and international credentials. In 2026 the vote index records him voting against the budget bills, the K'ómoks Treaty Act and the freedom of information bill, and for first reading of a bill to repeal the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA). His X page says he will fight for lower taxes, better healthcare, parental rights, the repeal of DRIPA and safer streets. Jules Côté of the BC NDP is the other accepted candidate in the district on the Elections BC list of October 3, 2026.

01 / Introduction

## About Korky Neufeld

Korky Neufeld is the Conservative Party candidate in Abbotsford West on the Elections BC candidate list stamped October 3, 2026 9:00:10 AM. Two nominations are accepted in the district on that copy: Jules Côté of the BC NDP and Neufeld. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026, so the list may grow.

Elections BC statements of votes show he won Abbotsford West in 2024 with 11,483 of 19,678 valid votes (58.35%), ahead of Graeme Hutchison of the BC NDP with 7,255 votes and independent James Davison with 940. The legislature's member data lists him as active in the 43rd Parliament for the Conservative Party of British Columbia.

Before provincial office he was an Abbotsford school trustee. The Abbotsford News reported in 2018 that he was elected to the board three times from 2005, did not run in 2014, sought the federal Conservative nomination in Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon for 2015 (it went to Liv Grewal) and was running for the board again in 2018. The school district says he stepped aside as Chair effective January 31, 2024, after declaring his candidacy for the Conservative Party. The City of Abbotsford says the Eligibility to Hold Public Office Act, which received royal assent (became law) on May 29, 2025, bars an MLA from holding a local elected office, so he was deemed to have resigned as trustee. A by-election followed on October 11, 2025, and the district's meeting summary of October 21, 2025 says Arsh Kaler replaced him. His party page says he served 15 years as a trustee, and the BC School Trustees Association says over 13 years.

In the legislature in 2026 he spoke on the budget, the sales tax on strata costs and on items seniors use, DRIPA and mineral claims, Bill 7 on international students, Bill 13 on safe access to places of worship, the Mental Health Act review, a supportive housing proposal in Abbotsford and the post-secondary education budget. The vote index records him voting against the 2026 budget motion and budget bills, the K'ómoks Treaty Act and, at third reading, the freedom of information bill (Bill 9).

The Conservative caucus (the party's group of MLAs) named him Critic for Artificial Intelligence on October 1, 2025 and Critic for Post Secondary Education and International Credentials on June 30, 2026. A critic is the opposition member who follows one ministry or topic. On December 3, 2025 CBC reported that he said he still considered John Rustad the party's leader after the party's board said it had removed him. A columnist on ArmchairMayor.ca listed him on May 25, 2026 among four MLAs supporting Iain Black in the party's leadership race. The party's release of September 27, 2026 names Lorne Doerkson as its leader.

His party page says he began as a church pastor, worked in construction and is a construction manager for Servicemaster Restore of the Fraser Valley. These are the party's descriptions. His X profile reads "BC Conservative Candidate for Abbotsford West", and on the morning of October 3, 2026 it showed a post from the previous day saying he is on the ballot.

Neufeld said every person deserves to reach a place of worship free from fear, described the 20 metre access zones, and asked why existing laws were not enforced and whether the bill's definition of interference protects free expression. He called the bill's intent understandable and in many respects commendable.

### Two questions on DRIPA

Neufeld said the government postponed changes to DRIPA for six months and asked the Attorney General whether she was dismissing comments by Robin Junger, a former chief provincial treaty negotiator. Hon. Niki Sharma answered yes. In a second question he cited a Tāłtān Nation release on the Eskay Creek mine and asked whether the agreement gives the Tāłtān a veto. She answered with figures on mining investment.

No campaign website of his own was found. The address korkyneufeld.ca answers and then sends the reader to a page with no text. His Facebook and Instagram pages show a login page with no posts, so nothing from them is used. His X page showed posts from September 26 to October 2, 2026 to a visitor who was not signed in, and those posts are the only campaign statements of his own read here. His party candidate page was read directly. It carries a 2026 donation notice and the same biography and priorities that Fraser Valley Today reported in February 2024, so its priorities come from the party's own text and may predate the 2026 campaign. Its biography (church pastor, construction manager at Servicemaster Restore of the Fraser Valley, the length of his school board service, his work with community groups) is the party's own account, and voche.me did not check it with the employer, the school district or the groups named. Its figure of 15 years as a trustee differs from the BC School Trustees Association, which says over 13 years, and from the Abbotsford News of 2018, which dates his first election to 2005 and says he skipped the 2014 race. voche.me did not open school board election results to settle the count. No party release read names him. voche.me read the party's list of 15 news headlines from September 23 to October 2, 2026, the platform page (marked coming soon, headings only) and the September 27 release on taxes, and opened no other release. His committee work and his speeches from 2024 and 2025 were not read. The 2026 members index lists 33 transcripts for him. voche.me read 11 of them and used the vote index for the rest, so remarks on the Bill 9 debate, Bill 12, Bill 8, Bill 10, Bill 11, the budget speech, his members' statements and his petition on a liquor licence in Abbotsford were not read. Critic roles come from two caucus releases (October 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026). voche.me did not find a source on whether the roles changed after the caucus departures of August and September 2026. The June 30 release names him critic for post-secondary education, and in the March 3, 2026 estimates he described himself as critic for post-secondary, so the roles in between are not documented. The columnist who listed him as a supporter of Iain Black is a commentator, and voche.me found no statement by Neufeld or by the Black campaign on it. The CBC page for his remark on John Rustad is a video page with a one sentence summary, and voche.me did not hear the video. The Hansard index has a separate entry for Larry Neufeld, MLA for Peace River South, and only the entry for Korky Neufeld was used. Searches on the surname also return a different Neufeld who served on a school board in another district. No source read ties that person to this candidate, and nothing about him is used here. No accountability entry was found for this candidate on 2026-10-03, which records only that voche.me found none in the sources above. Campaign finances, endorsements, the Abbotsford West all-candidates meetings and the registration page for the October 3 kickoff were not found or not readable. Nominations close at 1 p.m. on October 3, 2026, so more candidates may be added. The questionnaire has not been sent.

## What voche.me has checked
