## About Kala Bryson

Elections BC lists Kala Bryson as the BC NDP candidate for MLA in Saanich North and the Islands, on a candidate list stamped October 3, 2026 03:00:07 PM. The other accepted candidates in the district on that copy are Emily Lowan of the BC Green Party, Richard Smith of CentreBC and Ryan Windsor of the Conservative Party. Nominations closed at 1 p.m. Pacific time on October 3, 2026, and Elections BC may still publish a later copy of the list.

The Peninsula News Review reported on October 2, 2026 that the BC NDP had announced Bryson as its candidate. The paper says the party describes her as a lawyer and community advocate "dedicated to strengthening public institutions and improving access to justice", and quotes the party's news release saying she was raised in co-op housing. The paper also says she graduated from the University of Victoria. All of this is the party's own account of her. voche.me has not checked her legal licence or her degree with the Law Society of BC or the university, and CHEK News wrote on October 3, 2026 that no candidate bio was available for her.

In a statement the Peninsula News Review quotes, Bryson said she stands with David Eby and the BC NDP "to build a stronger B.C. with good jobs, strong public health care and support for families facing rising costs." In 2024 Rob Botterell of the BC Green Party won the district with 12,308 votes (36.15 percent), ahead of the BC NDP's Sarah Riddell with 10,958 (32.19 percent), the Conservative Party's David Busch with 10,145 (29.80 percent) and independent Amy Haysom with 635 (1.87 percent). No candidate named Bryson appears in the 2024 results. CHEK News reported that the incumbent for Saanich North and the Islands is not running again.

No campaign website, party candidate page, social media account tied to this candidacy, interview or speech by Bryson was found on 2026-10-03. Her career and background rest on the BC NDP's own description, as the Peninsula News Review relays it. voche.me has not checked her licence with the Law Society of BC (its directory could not be read here), and the report names no firm or organization. The address kalabryson.bcndp.ca, the party's pattern for candidate pages, sends the reader back to itself in a loop, and kalabryson.ca and kalabryson.com did not respond. The Saanich North and the Islands page of the BC NDP did not name her. The party's online candidate list loads by script and its data was not read in this session, and no party release naming her was found on the releases page, which ran to October 1, 2026. LinkedIn showed a sign-in screen, so nothing from it is used. The name search was limited because the WebSearch tool had reached its usage limit. The photograph in the Peninsula News Review report is credited to the BC NDP and is not reused. All-candidates meetings in the district, campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date. The questionnaire has not been sent.

## What voche.me has checked

Evidence reviewed on 2026-10-03: the Elections BC candidate list stamped October 3, 2026 03:00:07 PM, the Elections BC key dates page, the 2024 statement of votes, a Peninsula News Review report of October 2, 2026, a CHEK News candidate list of October 3, 2026, the BC NDP Saanich North and the Islands page, releases page, platform page and gas price release of October 1, 2026, and the BC Ballot page for the district. The name search was limited: the WebSearch tool had reached its usage limit, so the name was searched through a Google News feed, the site search of the Peninsula News Review and a Bing results page, and a DuckDuckGo page returned a human-check screen.

The only account of her background is the party's description as relayed by the Peninsula News Review, and her one statement comes from the same report. No campaign website, party candidate page, social media post or interview was found. The party entries below are the BC NDP's own text, and none of it names Kala Bryson. An empty section records what voche.me did not find on this date.
