## About Jesse Gervais

Elections BC lists Jesse Gervais as the BC NDP candidate in Nechako Lakes. The district's MLA since 2009, John Rustad of the Conservative Party, is not running again, according to CKPG Today and My Nechako Valley Now. Gervais did not run in 2024. In that election Rustad won the district with 7,851 votes (67.45 percent), and the BC NDP candidate, Murphy Abraham, had 3,167 votes (27.21 percent).

The Village of Fraser Lake's staff list names him as Director of Community Services. The Omineca Express reports that he is also the village's deputy corporate officer. The University of Northern British Columbia lists him on its board of governors as a member appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, with a term ending July 31, 2027, and marks him as on leave. The Omineca Express reports he was appointed in August 2026.

His UNBC board biography says he grew up in Prince George, that his family comes from the Flying Dust First Nation and the Green Lake Metis Settlement, and that he serves on the board of the Fraser Lake Community Foundation. It also says he worked for the BC and federal governments as an adviser to elected officials, held elected office with the Metis Nation, and earlier danced ballet professionally with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and companies in Madrid and Mexico. voche.me has not checked these roles with the bodies named.

The BC NDP's own release announcing his candidacy, which reporting dates to September 26, 2026, was not found on the party's releases page, so his statement is read only through the Omineca Express quote. No campaign social media account of his own was found. An Instagram account under the same name could not be tied to him, so nothing from it is used. His UNBC board biography says he held elected office with the Metis Nation; voche.me did not find which body or which office, and has not checked it. His work as an adviser to elected officials and his ballet career are stated in that biography and in reporting; voche.me has not checked them with the governments or companies named. The order in council that appointed him to the UNBC board was not opened; the August 2026 date comes from the Omineca Express. His role as deputy corporate officer of the Village of Fraser Lake is reported by the Omineca Express and CKPG Today and does not appear on the village staff list read on 2026-09-30. All-candidates meetings in the district, campaign finances and endorsements were not found on this date.
